  • They've written it to suggest it did but this was a match in September, and sounds like they never got going until relegated.
They love making shit up don't they. Like them being the oldest club in the universe, the fake "local derby" against Brighton and the fact that Fortune's goal didn't send them down!
  • Dunno where they heard this but a friend in Cyprus told me that Mansfield have failed to keep a clean sheet in a midweek evening game for 14 years. Anyone else seen/ heard this?
  • Excellent post. That last bit should be the teams' mantra from now on. Play until the final whistle in every match.
I don't think NJ will accept anything less, so no worries there.

I seem to recall a goal Chelsea scored at Stamford Bridge - probably 1980s. The shot went just past the right hand post on the outside, hit the stanchion at the back and came straight back out. Ref gave the goal! I think that may have been one of the reasons stanchionless (is that a word even?) nets came in.
Peter Hunt in 1972 against Oldham (I think). Took a shot that went outside the post, hit the old concrete wall at the front of the covered end, and bounced back onto the pitch.

Everyone was getting ready for the goal kick, nobody to my recollection celebrated a goal, but the referee awarded a goal

  • Best song ever :-)

La la la la la la laaaa la la …
Went To bed with that banging around my head just woken up and it was still fucking spinning round my head and prolly woke me up the noise of it , when the samba rhythm starts to play ….
  • Huge win. That's the most stressed I've been watching us in a good while as Mansfield always looked dangerous on the edge of the box but we stood up well. McIntyre was immense, threw himself at everything, was good with both feet on the ball and looked like he'd run his heart out by the end. I like him a lot so far. Coventry was good again but felt like he was trying to hold the midfield together on his won at times, I think Doc ran well but didn't help him out enough. Small looked ropey defensively on the right but much more comfortable down the left and the front two were their usual selves. I thought Karoy was absolutely perfect for what we needed when he came on, harried them so much higher up the pitch and was a huge part of us not letting them build up too much momentum at the end. He doesn't take the best care of the ball but he's always involved from the first minute he's on and he dragged us through at the end.

Mansfield have picked up a bit and I did see this as a potential banana skin away game so the fact we went nose to nose with a physical team and came away with 3 points right after out-playing a slick passing team just on Saturday shows just how strong this team is. There's still so many tough games to go; we never seem to beat Lincoln, Cambridge just took a point off Wrexham at home and those two big away games are looming. We are now 10 points ahead of 7th place with 6 games to go though, that's the important stat. Keep pushing for that 2nd spot and we'll be certain to make the Playoffs
    21 games v Lincoln, we’ve won 9, Lincoln have won 5, with 7 draws.
  • I maybe wrong about Goddens shot TBF, because I wast paying attention after the shot went wide.
It went wide, hit the Stantion, and then somehow managed to bounce/slip under the net from the outside to inside the goal.Bizarre but true.
  • I know he's knocking on a bit now, but I've always dreaded facing Jordan Rhodes.

A fantastic goal scorer in his pomp who between 2009 - 2016 had a better than one in two strike rate for Huddersfield and Blackburn.

His goal scoring record against us  isn't too shabby at 12 in 18, although thankfully on the decline.

  • Any views on Ramsay's supposed back pass missed by the ref?  I didn't see anything in enough detail and there didn't seem to be any replays.  Plenty of Mansfield fans seem to think it was though.

That would be embarrassing to have that happen again, especially from the same player.
  • TC was immense tonight, tightly marked all game but kept at it,always wanting the ball and finally got and took his chance.Another plus was we now know that losing Jones from the defence is not the disaster that we thought it might be,Macintyre slotted in seamlessly, had a great game.Top 2 is on,clubs that have been up there all season will start feeling pressure(Look at last nights results)we will probably have to beat them on their own grounds but nothing seems beyond us at the moment.Really looking forward to saturdays game, what a turnaround,3-4 months ago I was dreading going to games.(like most of us were)

That’s what they said on Charlton TV.

  • That was lovely , I was jumpin up and down cheering with the 75% of Mansfield fans that cheered like loons
  • @thickandthin63 said ‘A well dug out win,but wtf was Anderson thinking when he punted the ball straight to their keeper with about a minute left.’

Yep, no reason why it shouldn’t have sailed over the keepers head to seal a 3-1 win.
One reason is that he wasn’t trying to shoot. He had time on the ball and just booted it upfield. The goalkeeper collected the ball halfway up their half of the pitch and allowed them to put unnecessary pressure on us. It was very bad from Anderson but otherwise he did well.
  • Mansfield are so organised and so hard to break down so this is a good result, taking away the importance of the result in general!

Had a feeling Wrexham would drop points. They arent much of a team but have good individual players who can dig them out a hole. I am very confident we can take 3 points from them when we go there. Same as Wycombe.

I thought Chucks done okay when he came on. He added that physical presence that we needed and more importantly offered Godden support against a strong backline.

Imagine if that shot of his went in!

Next game for me is Northampton on Good Friday and I'm already looking forward to it! COYR

Think that would've been harsh if given. Looked more like Ramsay tried to control it and it found it's way to Mannion. If Ramsay meant it then he did it cleverly.

I was at that game. A neighbour occasionally used to take me to Chelsea as a kid in the early seventies. Dave Webb scored the "goal".
