Should a season-ticket holder not be available to attend a match and wish a colleague/friend to attend, the season-ticket holder is to contact the Ticket Office, who will arrange for a paper ticket to be collected or send via email. Thanks Clive. Yes, I saw that provision, which I think also appears in the current 2024/25 T&Cs. I wonder how many (if any) season ticket holders bother to get in touch with the ticket office, rather than handing their season ticket card to a friend or family member for a match they can't attend ? My hunch is that this provision is more honoured in the breach than the observance.clive said:

I have some friends who share a season ticket but don't live near enough to keep swapping the physical card. For a while they were relying on printing at the ticket office before the game but there's massive variation in terms of what info they ask for each time, and whether or not they charge you a small fee for printing off a ticket. Over the past couple of weeks we've realised that emailing is much, much easier - they send over an e-ticket by email and it saves the hassle on the day.Blucher said:

We scrapped that provision in the late 1990s because it was unenforceable and undesirable - it’s not a railway season ticket; you can only use it 23 times a year. If I buy a match ticket I can’t use, why shouldn’t I give it to a mate? Meire reinstated it.Blucher said:

It gets a bit more complicated with concessions, which is where the club has a legitimate interest in stopping adults using child tickets, etc, and places an onus on the club to manage the issue at the turnstiles which they don’t really want.
In reality, you’d be nuts to waste your time contacting the ticket office to change an adult for an adult or other like for like and I doubt anyone does.8 -

So while it would be against the T&Cs to send your electronic ticket to a friend to use, there is no actual mechanism that would prevent this.2

Obviously depends on how we implement , but I have been given tickets for other all digital clubs. You can transfer them the official way (the ST holder registers you, so you have a fan ID then formally transfers so you get an email and download) but most opt for the unofficial whereby you can screenshot a QR and just send to friends. For clubs that sell out they also allow you to sell back your season ticket to the club online if you can’t attend - perhaps not an issue for us in the immediate future !0

Depends on how advanced the digital ST is, some gig tickets refresh a QR code every minute, if the ST is like that, it will be very hard just to transfer.0

A friend of mine is a season ticket holder at Spurs with her lad, earlier this season when they couldn’t go we had her tickets. Had to sign up for a free Spurs account but once I gave her our I.D number she sent the tickets over and they were available on my phone so this must be something Charlton can do as well surely?I think they’re changing that next season though and you have to have a paid membership to be able to receive.0

Mrs Hex and me have a shared Google account When I purchase train tickets I load them from the email into my Google wallet on my phone. They are then instantly available in Mrs Hex’s wallet on her phone. Is this likely to work for CAFC STs ? If so, by setting up your own shareable Google account specifically for CAFC tickets you could easily share/transfer them.0

This is another reason why it’s important to chat to the regular fans around you and get to know them. There will be games where one of you can’t make the match and your/their ticket will be going spare. If you/they can’t use the ticket then the other one might. It saves it going to waste and gets somebody along to the Valley who just might want to come back again once they realise, or get reminded, it’s actually a good day out often even when the football is shit.Henry Irving said:Our ST sales up 13% on same time last year.
