  • I do feel it might actually have been Morgan who I was thinking of and heard he was a very good  WK, only 18 too

Is it Curtiss who is highly rated ? Seem to recall there was high hopes for another wicketkeeper coming through
No. Curtiss is an all rounder. Dawkins is the keeper but more of a white ball opening bat at the moment.

Ah blimey I swear there was another wicketkeeper batsman we had high hopes for and it wasn’t Dawkins! Will remember soon enough!
What’s happened to the young fast bowler too? Always hoping we might have someone to get excited about in that department !
Dawkins has been playing for England U19s and as far as I'm aware there are no other young keeper/bats coming through. Barney Ford is the bowler. Plays for Dartford and spent the summer playing club cricket in Australia. Has suffered a lot from injuries. Curtiss is a very promising all rounder but hasn't been able to bowl in recent times, again due to injury.

Curtiss made 63 to go with his first innings 42. Kent 166 all out and in response to requiring 218 to win are 12-1
That is a shame regarding Barney ford, I note on cricinfo that his last second 11 games came in 2023!

Having said that about young keeper/batters, Ollie Morgan of Tunbridge Wells has taken the gloves. It is strange that Dawkins isn't keeping in the absence of Benjamin but, perhaps, he is concentrating on his batting now.

And yet Dawkins was second choice (behind Sam Smith) over Morgan for Tunbridge Wells last year!

  • Sussex 2s 170-6 and needing another 48 runs. In addition to Benjamin being absent, Parkinson appears to have left the game or just not bowling himself.
  • Am surprised Sussex haven't sent Oli Carter in yet , unless he's gone because he's needed with the first XI.
  • 176-7. Looks like the Sussex skipper, Carter, has disappeared back to his county too!
  • Sussex 2s 202 all out. Kent win by 15 runs. We're becoming a win machine!

    Great stuff !

    Onwards & upwards with Adam H !
  • We can't rotate the seamers because we have no other fit quicks so the only option is to bring in Parkinson who has been added to our victorious XI

Workloads haven’t been too bad - same 11 for me .  I’d like to know when Gilchrist and Stewart both played 3 in a row

  • I'd definitely bring in Parky. If we're bowling last, we'll need a spinner. Especially after he took 8 wickets for the seconds on Tuesday!

    For whom?

Whichever seamer they see as most replaceable. We don't need 5 every game.

He goes for too many runs .
  • We won the toss and chose to bowl. Gloucester currently 37/2 after Gilchrist got both openers LBW
  • Unchanged team. Perhaps not surprising the unfortunate Parkinson is left out when you see the pitch. Is Darren Stevens the groundsman now?

  • Dear oh dear, Grant Stewart now pulls up mid over injured
  • edited April 18
Jas Singh gets Price LBW. 41/3
  • Stewart getting injured is a nightmare but there are, at least, two things that might have made the situation worse - had we left a seamer out and now been down to two plus Evison and the fact that we don't have another CC match for two weeks so, hopefully, we have time to get another overseas/loan player in and one or two of the likes of Stewart, Quinn, Garrett and Cohen might actually be fit to play by then with the benefit that Gilchrist, Kashif and Jas will have had added time to rest up.

It rather says it all that Gloucs have Australian internationals, Bancroft and Green, as overseas and we are left scratching around finding someone to fit our financial criteria.

A bowler getting injured during a game isn't something you can pick a side for, even with our pathetic injury record. 5 seamers in any side is a luxury, luckily we won the toss and aren't bowling last.

A mystery benefactor paid for Cameron Green to play for Gloucs. I'll have a look in my back pocket to see who I can afford to bring over.

  • 342-7 and  wickets for Gilchrist. Green has also retired hurt as a result of an injury (looks like hamstring/cramp) too, diving for a single to take him to 100.
  • 364-7 at close

Need to bowl them out and get the 3 bowling points ( 2 more wickets would give us the 3rd bowling point if Green not fit enough to bat again. Need to get them before 110 overs have been completed though). Then hope we can bat at least as well as they have and actually accumulate some batting points this season.
  • 385-8
Two of their players with centuries
  • Green came back out but Gilchrist gets him LBW for 112. 385/9
  • At last. 472 a/o
  • Oh Zak
  • This is so so bad
  • Went out when JL took the final wicket.

    Just back.

Why am I not surprised  :'(
