Slightly concerned to see Godden sitting on the bench with a huge icepack strapped to his right knee. Hopefully just a precaution. No idea what happened with the sending off. Looked like they were both scuffling. Ref was miles away and not looking so someone else has given that.
One of those game where I'll be telling people for years to come that I was there..........I wasn't, but hey ho. Thought their keeper had an awful game. If that was us conceeding those goals, Mannion would be getting (virtually) lynched on here. Apart from Berry's goal, he should've done better with the other 3...........but I give zero fucks. Jones and Gillesphey were immence at the back, summed up with their only shot on target coming with 5 minutes from the end. A win on Saturday will really put the cat amongst the pigeons.
A massive win psychologically. Perverse that it's still not really in our hands to finish above 4th!
I don't want to say I'm daring to dream. But the vibes are egging me on. There is something in the spirit of this team that just feels completely right.
Ironically despite the score line we didn’t look at our flowing best going forward.
It was the defence that won it I feel.
Really? I though whilst the game was still a competitive contest we actually looked back to what we know this team is capable of after a couple of slightly off performances (where we still managed to pick up points). Obviously after the third and fourth went in in quick succession the match effectively ended.
Yep.
Not suggesting we were not good but TC and Small were not able to terrorise their defence as we have seen.
Just felt our defence was the better part of the team today.

Bizarre as I've come away from that game gutted. Gutted for the players for whatever they do they just cant seem to get closer to 2nd place. Gutted that we smash a promotion rival 4-0 and yet we are now waiting on the fitness of Berry. Gutted that Aneke will miss the last 2 games AND the first leg of the play offs (assuming we dont get 2nd) meaning less options up front.
But to the game itself. I was nervous as hell beforehand and thought we'd lose. At 2-0 still thought they'd get back into it......but at 3-0 it was all over. 4-0 was just the cherry on top of the icing on the cake. All 15 (?) players played out of their skins but MOTM was Lloyd Jones. Immense at the back & up front he can finish like the best of them.
The other 6 teams must be fearing playing us.....starting with Wrexham on Saturday. Please let us burst the Sky / Hollywood bubble and stop them getting automatic promotion next week.
At xmas I wouldn't have given us a hope of getting top 6 by May. Football.......funny old game Saint.
Cant see is getting 2nd, especially as our GD is much worse than the other 3 teams around us who can grab it. Only way that will change is if we beat Wycombe & Wrexham by 3 or 4 clear goals, which ain't going to happen.
The above is Golfie's post from the Northampton Post match thread PMSL !!
I just hope the players don't run out of puff before the season ends. It looks like a number - Jones, Godden, Berry, Small, Campbell - are carrying knocks and injuries.
Can Jones keep getting them out there for potentially another 5 games?
Just had a scan through the match thread on the Wycombe forum and the consensus there is that Leahy ran into Chuks and then threw himself to the floor. If there is camera coverage somewhere it's likely to be rescinded.
There's only one thing that concerns me about the last two fixtures of the reguar season: referees.
You can see that Disney FC are going to get all the help they need which means our players will have to be on angelic behaviour next Saturday. Even a sneeze out of place could result in an unwanted booking, free kick or penalty.
As a bit of reality, if we beat Wrexham on Saturday then we're in with a shout of autos on the last day, which we haven't been since my first Charlton game at 6 years old in 2010! Away at Oldham

THE CHAIRBOYS....
We initially needed Wycombe to lose and draw their final two games to over haul them.
With us so close in GD we very possibly overhaul them with them losing alone now
After all a 1-0 defeat means that we just have to win 3-0 to get ahead

Saludos desde Madrid 😎
If we don't make second can we play Wycombe at Wembley, please.
We have huge momentum.

The combination of getting it done and dusted just after halftime. Chuks Red and Wrexham winning.
