Some people like to complain about 'hoofball'. But big factors in our success are, Jones's 40 yard headers out of defence, Edwards's 30 yard throws and Gillesphey's 70 yard lateral crosses. Between them they shift defence to attack very quickly.
The passing in that first half was very poor from us. 2 goals up all well and good but there was a weakness there. Midfield was scrapping when they could but largely cut out in the pattern of play. Anderson passing game much better of late and helped with this second half I felt and i think the stats should bear it out.
Just listened to the Wycombe manager's post match interview. "Four soft goals"!?! Not a word about being completely whipped by a better side. Orient should fancy their chances against a team managed by Dodds the Deluded.

I do think the pitch contributed a bit to that, every time TC or Small tried to carry the ball forward it would bobble or get stuck in the pitch. Lots of players slipping on their arse during the game too.
I was part of the holy triumvirate of Charlton Life royalty where I sat, myself ,AFKA and Nicholas , 3 wise old stooges with their families jumping up and down in complete delirium, also thanks to Nicholas for moving around so little shit could see the game. good day out but it’s never enough , we needed another goal to close the GD on Wycombe 🤪 my heart won’t be able to take the play offs please let us go up . I can’t stand any more league one guffness

As for the match. Such an accomplished performance. Not been so relaxed watching a game for some time. If these are second and in top form, we fear nobody. Ice runs through their veins right now..... The players that is, not NJ.

I don't like to criticise a professional manager but Dodds was talking out of his arse big time. Firstly most goals are avoidable but small mistakes and big mistakes happen over 90 minutes and good opponents force them. Other than Godden's goal, none of the other three were clear mistakes.
What the difference was, was that we defended with determination that they couldn't match. Jones' goal was a great first time finish and because of that the keeper didn't have any setting time so wasn't his fault. The second was a great strike and Karoy's was from a nice move. Again, headers don't allow setting time for a keeper. As the game went on we got more and more dominant and if Dodds couldn't see his team were well beaten, he doesn't understand football.

My first game of the season due to daughter's footballing commitments and couldn't have chosen a better one!
Had to go in the home end but sat in the upper tier of the one decent stand right on the 18-yard line so a cracking view of the away end celebrations in the second-half (looked like a few boys got a bit squashed down at the front - LOL!).
Great noise all game - the Wycombe fans are a passive bunch - it's really still a non-league club off the field in many ways - but they couldn't fail to be impressed by us both on and off the pitch!
Not much to add to what's already been said but main takeaways for me were - Lloyd Jones immense despite the early and fully-deserved yellow. McGillsephy almost as good - didn't give Kone a look in. TC - didn't do a thing all game which is not neccessarily a problem as they doubled up on him whenever they could and shows how good the overall team performance was Mannion - so solid. Can't believe I was reading on here all season that we need a new keeper as neither are good enough. Anderson - thought he looked superb when he came on. Ran the game in the second half with little pop passes and short bursts.
Have always been a Jones fan (Welsh family roots) so loved seeing him in the flesh - a manager like that is worth his weight in gold. My previous game before this was Os away on Boxing Day when I wanted to get on the pitch and lamp Appleton the waste of space.
Will be at Burton if any mathematical chance of 2nd spot. If not, see you all at the play-off home leg (and the away one if it's Wycombe as I'll be in their end again!!)
