If Stockport v Wycombe is a draw then we will end up 5th & will play Wycombe at home 1st leg, no matter what we do.

If we win, and there is a winner in the above match, then we will end up 4th & play the loser of that match and will be away 1st leg.

Not strictly true, a 5-0 win against Burton and we will finish 4th if there’s a draw in the other game
Not true. Stockport have a +6 better GD. We would have to win by 6 clear goals AND that assumes that their game ends 0-0 as Stockport have scored 5 more than us.

Wycombe have a GD 5 better than us, would have scored the same amount as us but have lost to us twice

Don’t think the Stockport v Wycombe game ends in a draw anyway.
Nor do I. Stockport to win & then we play Wycombe. If that happens then if we also win then we play at home 2nd leg. Otherwise we play at home first leg.

If you look at 2019, we dominated Donny at their place then panicked at home. I don’t really think it matters that much about which leg is 2nd. Got to just get through it

Think it made a big difference in the shoot out though
Very true, don’t think my ticker can take another shootout 😂

Didn't help when we were at home to Swindon a few years before.

Not happy with our little slide down the table today. I booked a week in Croatia, back when we weren't in with a sniff of a chance. If we can't make 3rd or 4th, I'll end up missing the home leg.  :s

Stockport v Wycombe is probably now the most unpredictable match of the league season.

Neither can get 2nd so they’ll both be weighing up the ’do we rest players?’ and ’do we really want 3rd place?'  questions. We have no idea how each management team thinks on this matter, or what the attitude of their players is.

As for us, I think we should use the Burton match as a training session for the play offs but it would be nice not to lose. I think NJ will field a decent team and hope he can get a lead and rest players for most of the 2nd half.

Home advantage in the second leg would be well, an advantage but if we’re good enough then we’ll go through. If not we won’t. None of the other three will fancy playing us. Yesterday might well have been a blessing in disguise, a timely wake up call and reminder that we arnt so great that we don’t need to be right on it.

    Tricky scenarios really.
i don’t want Wycombe because they’ll feel they owe us on for doubling them
Leyton Orient are just tough bastards and owe retribution for the injury time winners we got against them
Stockport I don’t rate in terms of ability but are well drilled and very “together”.  The team is definitely greater than the sum of its parts.
Reading are hit and miss but tend to hit against us.

So basically this is going to be tough.  We are, without doubt, the “scalp” of the L1 play offs and do whatever we do will be hard work.

I think we’ll pump Burton next week.

First leg we need to make a statement that says “we don’t fuck about”

A lot is going to depend on getting all our players carrying knocks back and fully fit. Without Jones, Campbell and Small we look a very ordinary side. If we are at full strength we can match any of the other playoff contenders.

We can't finish 3rd (unless the other 2 draw and we win by 7 goals or more), we can only finish 4th or 5th. To finish 4th we have to beat Burton and Wycombe v Stockport can't end as a draw.

Fully expect Stockport to beat Wycombe, and we should beat burton.

And against Wycombe over 2 legs I’d have us as the fancy and I personally if away 1st wouldn’t bother going after going there last Monday it’s crap.

Are our loaned out players available for the play offs? Thinking Terry Taylor and Zac Mitchell in particular.

No they're not, its Transfer Window > Transfer Window

So Asiimwe for example will be eligible for Walsall

This. The difference between how we played on Monday and yesterday was worryingly considerable. I was pleasantly surprised with the Wycombe game after our performances against Peterborough and Mansfield.

    Which we lost.
    4-3 0n penalties...we didn't lose, we won!, and I claim the José Mourinho amendment...🙄

If it's a draw they are 3rd and 4th so it could be a low key 0-0 without too much jeopardy to either side IF  both sides like the idea of a home 2nd leg.

I think every team who is going to be in League One next season is hoping we go up in the playoffs this year

I doubt either will want to face us so will try to avoid finishing 4th. Wycombe need to pick up a result after a couple of bad ones. We just need to beat Burton and hope for the best, at the end of the day it's League one, everyone is inconsistent and there's no magic formula for the play offs

Probably speculating on who we will be able to keep. If we don't go up Small and Campbell to go, maybe Leaburn and Ramsey. Key players to be replaced as both players and creators.  Can't have a rebuild that takes till 31st Jan to click.

Which is why, imo, we should rest those with serious knocks. Obviously try and beat Burton still but don't get to worked up. More important fish to fry to coming up.

Vs Burton, I would start Mcintyre, Mitchell, Gilbert and Mbick. Assume Kanu not ready to start as just back from injury.

We've seen how much it impacts us if any of the first 11 are out. Plus, some of the above might be needed with the injuries mounting up - best to give them game time so they are ready.

Wouldn’t mind seeing Gilbert start full stop.

Completely agree with your final point, but regarding the first one, I’d say Orient are a scarier proposition than us right now, having won five in a row.
