Jones' press conference

That is good news that Kanu with travel with the squad. I would imagined he will get game time against Burton if it's decided he can't have minutes against Wrexham.
It's catch 22 with Lloyd Jones as we need him to play in the two semi finals but still having a long shot if we beat Wrexham you can see the temptation to play him on Saturday.
Isn't getting cramp after 27 minutes unusual for a professional football regarding Luke Berry ?
I assumed he had tweaked something after his rocket of a shot that blasted into the net.
I can understand keeping hush, hush if Small or TC had a knock as we alter our tactics when our wide attackers don't play as was evident against Lincoln when Thierry on the right wing had 3 players marking him at times when they realized no TC and Small was then over worked down the right.
Years ago Lloyd would've had an injection and played on but now...
Interesting discussion between Nathan, Lloyd and Dr Will Abbott will take place before 5.30pm, 26th April.

He is a very different player to Berry, who tends to play a lot further up the pitch and links up play with little flicks and quick passes, where as Anderson will be deeper and likes to take more touches on the ball.I think if Berry does not play he will be a bigger miss that some give him credit for.6 -

I'd rather Gilbert in place of Berry, after all I'm pretty sure he was signed to be an alternative to Berry1

Anderson against Wrexham wouldn’t be a bad thing. They’re a very physical side and he could disrupt the midfield and rush the CB’s well. Gilbert doesn’t seem to have the fitness for Jones to trust him for 903

Ok, I must've missed that info !
Let's hope it can get him through the potential 5 matches before a solution is found with rest or op.1 -

if Kanu and Anderson start/play our chances of promotion will diminish ..... Kanu is a willing tryer but so limited football wise currently , Anderson can be a bit better but hasn't shown enough consistency or comfortableness on the ball yet for me .
To hold on to a game their legs could help, to win a game/ nick a goal they aren't what I'd want .
They both need game time but that's not for now , Kanu needs a good run out on loan .3 -

Karoy was moving well, had pace and his passing was really tidy, got a goal and has a bit of physicality.
I'd be worried Gilbert might be a bit lightweight for this game. Wrexham are a physical side and very good at home, lost less than 10 games since Parkinson took over (obviously a lot of these were in league 2 and NL).
As you say though, Anderson is good to finish with as his workrates are good. Tough call.8 -
Thought Karoy was outstanding on Monday.
At his current development stage he seems to relish coming on when we've got a bit of a cushion. That will of course change and he will learn to take the game to teams.
But at this moment in time I'd keep him on the bench. Get a lead and bring him on.4 -

I think DK is still a work in progress. You only have to look at TC to realise writing him off is a bad idea.
DK was prolific at youth level and has scored some decent goals for the first team.He could still play a huge part this season.9 -

NJ seems unusually relaxed in the interview which is nice to see. I think what we can take from that interview is I suspect our youngsters are going to have the fantastic experience of playing in front of a packed Valley on Saturday10

I agree mate actually I would be quite excited to see Dixon and Mbick get a full game0
-
I would be surprised if more than two more youth players, other than the usual ones are in the starting 11.
Maybe another couple on the bench.
I am sure NJ wants to win this game3 - Sponsored links:

Based on that interview, there will be plenty of changes on Saturday.2

In an ideal world I think you play your strongest team to get the Wrexham defeat out the system and build back the momentum into the play offs.
But the effort this team has put in to turn around a poor first half of the season has taken its toll. So resting key players is essential.Perhaps the feel good factor of Dixon and the like putting in a strong performance against Burton will help to give that fresh push for the final 3 games.0 -

"I would like to go into the play-off campaign on the back of a bounce back," he added. "I wouldn't want us to go in on the back of two defeats. We'll attack the game with exactly the same vigour, aggression and confidence that we've gone into most games because we want to take a little bit of momentum in."
"whatever I do on the weekend will be geared to making sure that the team are right at it for the play-off games."
That to me sounds like he'll put out a pretty strong team, as he wants to build some momentum, and finish the season with a positive result and performance. Don't risk injury doubts like Jones, but the last thing he wants is to stick out a weak team and lose.7 -

It’s peculiar how people listen to the interview and draw opposite conclusions.
I think he’ll put out the strongest possible team except for those carrying injuries or needing a week off due to needing to “recharge their batteries”.4 -
The impression I got is that there is a balance and a dilemma. Yes, he wants to win on Saturday in the context of it helping us approach the play offs in the right way but everything is geared around the play offs. Jones doesn't give much away in his conferences and I think he doesn't want to help his opposing manager plan and if that helps you 1% or even less, it helps you and Jones will take anything that helps.
One thing I think we can safely assume is that any player carrying a knock or showing signs of fatigue won't be starting on Saturday.2 -
I think players who need to be rested either through fatigue (likely to get injured if play), or injured (however slight) won't make the squad. We will them put out the strongest team we have left hoping to get a couple of goals and then make early changes for youngsters off the bench in the hope that Burton won't be going all out for a win.1
-
everyone knows our ideal first choice starting XI, rest anyone out of that who are struggling with a knock/fatigue.1
-
Godden had a ice pack on his knee after Wycombe
Jones and his ongoing injury
Small and Berry missed last week
So I doubt any of the above will be risked
We should still look to win the game. Would like to see Gilbert get a start, if Berry is injured he'd be a better fit than Anderson in that position, feel Anderson is better option off the bench7 -
At least with Burton now safe we wont have any concerns about having to select our best team.1
