    I think the writing was on the wall for Barnes the minute he appointed Jason McAteer as his assistant - which was probably before Tranmere had kicked a ball under his reign as Manager.

    Nigel Adkins was indeed their physio though he had been a Manager previously albeit at Bangor City.

    He also played for Tranmere.
