Mind you, Jar Jar Binks would probably make a better prime minister than the ones we've recently had.0 -
Not sure if it's been mentioned but we've just really enjoyed the first series of Landman. Good storyline (s) with great humour thrown in.4

I’m well behind here, but few weeks ago I decided to give Gangs of London a go. Wasn’t expecting anything too groundbreaking but figured it might be entertaining. A few points:
1) Crazily OTT fight scenes. Fine if you like that sort of thing. A bit silly though.
2) I’m willing to suspend disbelief, but at times, this show takes the piss. Ludicrous at times.
3) Series 1 had a decent storyline. Series 2 went downhill quickly. Series 3 was underwater. Feels increasingly like it’s been written by a 14 year old who gets a boner watching Bruce Lee films.
4) The Lale episode. No spoilers, but if you’ve seen it, you know the one I mean. Absolutely ridiculous to the point of being unintentionally hilarious. Felt like a fucked up tribute to Die Hard with a female twist written by someone who knows nothing about either Die Hard or women. Or writing.
Summary: Not great, but pretty well shot so it looks slick. Unfortunately, it’s unconvincing tosh and badly written. But if you like a bit of ultra-violent action without having to think too hard about what’s going on, it does the job I suppose.

I keep getting told how great it is but can't for the life of me understand what people are seeing?

Glad I’m done with it. If they do a fourth series, I won’t bother. Life’s too short.0 -
Some great TV available at the moment.
Andor
Mobland
Landman
Tulsa King
Daredevil reborn
1923
We own this city
New series being filmed currently of Mayor of Kingstown
Then the last of us
If you have played the games this could have been incredible. I like the actress who plays Ellie but she is so wrong for the part of Ellie. They have a big task for the girl playing Abbey to live up to the character in the game. Sounds mental to say that but this video game was spectacularly good. And nearly made me shit my pants a few times as well. The series has had some good moments but I wouldn't have been that fussed if they had canned it.

Ambulance got me again last night. Incredible work the paramedics do. Really felt for Ken the Millwall supporter who had cerebral palsy and is no longer able to get down The Den. So sad and such a lovely bloke.1

Gangs of London is shit
It looks great, has clearly had a ton of money spent on it and has a strong cast but is total style over substance. I've found this to be the case for a lot of Sky stuff in among the really notable exceptions that are generally by HBO. I say that having no idea if gangs of London is made by HBO2 -

I saw a picture of Pedro Pascal & Kaitlyn Dever smiling together and I have to say, that looks more like the game versions.
I feel quite bad for Bella Ramsey, she's getting ripped apart online and she comes across quite sweet off screen and on screen she's a good actor. Comes across to me like people are really hung up on her not looking like Ellie.
I'm definitely going to play the games now, just installed them.
On a side note, as much as I thought Kaitlyn Dever (Abby) did fairly well and you can tell she's a good actor, I think she's a bit too pretty to play a character like Abby from what I've read. It's harder to dislike her 😂0 -
This weeks Mobland was another cracker. The last 5 mins was a bit over dramatic but I’m loving it.2

It's not helped that the lady playing Dina is a stronger actress than Bella Ramsey.
Some good clicker scenes in the latest episode I thought, and the metro scene was a good reflection of the game which I remember being a scary mission.
Did anyone else notice that Ellie is a lesbian? I'm not sure the directors of the show have made that obvious enough.1 -
My Missus is into 'The Change' 2nd series. I think it's very odd...but then menopausal comedy is not really my thing.0

Finished Severance last night. Not something I would have chose myself but went purely off the high reviews on here.
Glad I did, had me thinking throughout and I was never sure whether I was being stupid and just not understanding it, or it was designed that way.3 -

White Lotus - now finished season 2. Loved it, all the dark humour, twisting and turning. They are all out filth at times but even that is quite comedic. Little Tom Hollander on all fours being rogered by a man half his age is not something I would have imagined watching nor wanted to ever watch on a TV screen - my jaw properly dropped, but the scene does what the series does best, ask more questions on motives and possibilities.
Andor season 2 episode 7-9 was the best Star Wars material I have ever watched. Eps 4-6 I found too slow, even a bit boring at times, but the perseverance was 100% worth it. The genocide of a largely peaceful race and its triggering of the rebellion into full swing was delivered magnificently and with lots of emotion. Pretty brutal at times not the Star Wars most know or kids are used to watching.1 -
Just finished White Lotus 3. Started slowly but ended up being ok. Jason Isaacs as an American though?0

Just discovered Poker Face on Sky. Same director as Knives Out. Only watched a couple, but enjoying it so far.0

Have to say, I really liked it. I’ll catch up with the current season soon.0 -
Mobland episode 7 stepped into gore shock territory this week, and whilst it was good, these incidents in British series don’t grip me as much as say Narcos or Ozark. There’s just something I can’t take serious about it.
Also the introduction of what appears a big character at the end when there’s only 3 more episodes I believe, just reeks of hanging it out for a second series.I really hope it doesn’t lose its way.2 -
I was shocked by that scene, its really unusual to get stuff like that in British TV drama. I can only think of a scene from Spooks off the top of my head that I didn't see coming as an act of violence but as a surprise too.
I'm starting to think its a bit cartoony, posh and northern actors trying to do a London accent is like dragging fingernails down a blackboard, Paddy Considine is an amazing actor but he can't do a southern accent for shit and neither can the kid playing his son, he was fine aging Johnny Rotten as thats an exaggerated accent anyway
Still enjoying it though and looking forward to next week1
