Draper looks like he could be our best ever player to play on clay, surely he will only get better.

6-0 6-4 and another semi final for Draper.
A competitive 2nd set after the one sided 1st set.

We know Jack is good on a hard court after a semi final in New York at the US slam, and he beat Alcaraz on the grass at Queen's. If we can add the clay as well then Paris could be interesting.

Only the 2nd round so far at Wimbledon but he is in
the best form of his life and IF his fitness holds up then the new world number 5 could stay in this elite company.

Draper jumps above Novak Djokovic in the live rankings to a career high ranking of 5. He’s a few hundred points away from Fritz at world no. 4 and would be within 100 points of Fritz should he win in Madrid.

After that, the jump to Alcaraz, Zverev and Sinner is large.

Jack Draper wins his semi final  6-3 7-6 against the new top ten player Musetti who played so well in the 2nd set but Jack kept his nerve and he gets to another Masters final where he will play Casper Rudd.

Was close in the 2nd set but Draper still haven't dropped a set in Madrid this tournament.

Massively impressive that he can do well on all surfaces, beating players far more used to clay courts on the way.

Draper was serving for the first set with a 5-4 lead.

Unfortunately he lost three games back to back and he’s dropped the set 7-5. The first set he’s lost in the tournament so far.

No disgrace in this defeat,Clay is a slow surface probably not suited to Drapers game, and gave Rudd the opportunity to scramble plenty of good returns which he wont get on grass or hard courts.Rudd played very well ,and Jack should be pleased with his work at this tournament.

Rome Masters coming up which will be world no. 1 Sinner’s first tournament since returning from a 3 month doping ban.

Jack Draper will again be the five seed. He is only defending 30 ranking pts whereas world no. 4 Fritz (who is 205 pts ahead of Draper) is defending 200 pts.

A great opportunity, if Fritz falters again on clay, for Draper to get into the world’s top four ahead of Roland Garros and then Wimbledon later this summer.

Losing his serve when serving for the 1st set by Jack was the catalyst for Casper Rudd to believe he could win the match.
Rudd has the most wins on clay over the last five years than anyone despite losing two slam finals at Paris and I think they said this was Casper's 3rd attempt at the Madrid masters.

Draper surprised me with how good he was on clay because I think hard courts and grass still suits his game more.
Disappointing end to a great Madrid masters but the best man won on the day and Rudd is back in the top 10 after some soul searching of his own after dropping from number 2 over a period of time.

I'll be disappointed if there aren't spectators there dressed as a syringe  ;)

Actually Norrie was a lucky loser and won today.

Radacanu serving for the match as we speak.

Good victory for Radacanu against a tough opponent.

Didn't realise Norrie had got through as a lucky loser and won his first round.

Against the 19 year old Aussie Maya Joint, who is a new name to me, Emma had a long battle 7-5 6-7 6-3 and Raducanu went sightseeing for a while in the day as she was 5th match on court and the match finished at 11pm.
I watched some of the match and it was a good quality clay court game.

Kartal has an early break and leads 3-1.

Raducanu’s seeded opponent in round 2 has withdrawn and has been replaced by a lucky loser from qualifying.

Realised her opponent had changed and looked up why. Doubley lucky loser to get a bye into the second round. Hopefully a less difficult opponent? Current ranking 97 but has been as high as 21
