Never mind seeing a Lampard team lose.

Coventry began to think about penalties and forgot to defend a corner.
  • No pitch invasion, very restrained!

Very tough on Coventry who have been the better side tonight. Sunderland will have to play a lot better to have a chance at Wembley.

Still backing Sunderland here. They will start playing properly now they have to.
Any moment now... or maybe not
Hopefully this wont be us on Thursday night
    I’d take it.

Wouldn’t be too worried if you’re Sheffield United

Fair play Sunderland. Defended well, and let's face it, not a lot going right in Sunderland itself either.

Nissan probably going to make some horrific Qashqai's tomorrow.

Coventry only have themselves to blame, they had the opportunities to win in normal time

Sunderland score seconds from the end. We know how that feels.

Championship play-off final: Sheff Utd v Sunderland.

Two clubs with a wonderful Wembley and play-off record.

And the promoted side will be ...

    ... Blackburn Rovers.

Sunderland will fancy their chances just because the opposition isn't us.

Why are they having a pitch invasion, they've not won anything yet?

That tackle from Coventry was so well timed!!
Why's he playing two days early?

Teams that play in red and white stripes have been relegated from the Premier League in each of the last three seasons, got a feeling that'll be four seasons in a years time.

3rd Vs 4th always seems a fitting final.

Looks like Sunderland put loads of security around the grond and some got through and goaded Lampard and Coventry who had no protection…. Not a fan of him but could have turned out much worse. Looked like he push a fan over too which was quite funny

Absolutely brilliant. Quite like the Mackems.

Coventry have had some bad times with their ground but since the FA Cup game there I really couldn’t care.

4th vs 6th would be better in my opinion

Thought Coventry were on top most of the game but looked shattered in the second half of extra time. Sunderland turned it up a notch at that point. Quality header, although completely unmarked.

Sheffield United are a much better side and should see them off but you never know.

The commentator just said Sunderland had missed their last four penalties in the Championship and suddenly they weren't needed in the last seconds.
  • Oh, such a sad sight - home ends still packed, not a soul left in the away end.

Was actually looking forward to penalties...as a neutral really find them exciting...not if it Charlton!

Feel sorry for Coventry, but it shows you just have to keep going til the last second.  Not sure it was quite as last ditch as when Leicester beat Palace at Wembley, having just brought on their 6ft6 sub goalie for the penalties, but not far off.

I want Sunderland to do it, but in a way I’d like us to play them in next year’s Championship playoff final.
