Crawley? Should have been Jones' last game7 -
So bloody pleased.
I said I hoped we'd come back from Wycombe with a slim lead mainly to draw them out a bit tonight.
I feared much of the same turgid stuff we witnessed on Monday and I wasn't far wrong. Wycombe are footballs answer to oxygen thiefs! They suffocate the life out of any free flowing football. Horrible team and I'm glad we got it done.
Back four f******g immense. I've just seen Ram- Bo's double block. Bloody hell I love that man!
Jones his normal commanding self. The determination on his face to get to that ball before the goal keeper when we scored was something else.
Big shout out to Gillesphey. He drifts below the radar a bit but he's the glue that keeps this defensive unit together. Such a contrast to the player we saw when he first turned up.
Scenes at the end with my boys on the pitch with me will stay with me for a long time.
The final should be a cracker without Stockport and Wycombe involved.
Up the Addicks!12 -

WSS said:To be fair on the Sky interview he did say it was OTT and (unnecessarily) apologised.
It's called passion, he shook hands with the Wycombe manager and things seemed to go okay there.

We know and he knows that we haven't won anything yet but after enduring the crap we've faced over the last six years explains our sheer bloody relief tonight that we are hopefully on our way back.
Well done boys.& to be fair most of the Wycombe supporters were saying the best team won & were criticising their own manager for their dreadful "style" of football.

I can now confess my dirty little secret. I was not remotely nervous today, as I was convinced we were going to lose. All the big build up, the special appearances, the cards on seats things, the messages from the former players, so many times it's ending up all going pearshaped, and with the niggly way Wycombe had played in the first leg I could see us losing someone to a couple of dodgy yellow cards. And when Lloyd Jones's header was more of a defensive one than towards goal I thought "yeah, it's not going to be our day." To add to my frustration my connection was a bit eratic so I had to stop doing the Match Thread updates as the picture kept going slushy or cutting out all together. Then when Edwards got caught upfield and Wycombe broke, but took an age to get into the box, and Ramsay managed to make a last ditch block twice in quick succession, I thought, "Hmm, maybe it's not Wycombe's day either". And when Jones made one of his occasional forays upfield, brought the ball down and got the ball to Godden while apparently taking out the keeper in the process, I thought "we might actually do this" and the nerves kicked in big time. Literally counting the seconds during injury time, and cursing Sky for focusing on Nathan on the touchline rather than what was going on on the pitch. But I'm so pleased that we did it, and for all of you that made it there in person. I hope the throats and the heads aren't too sore in the morning.17

Still not fully sure why Lloyd was up there as my nerves were too distracting but my god I'm glad he was9

I was confident NJ and the team would get the job done tonight and they didn't disappoint. Every one of them played their part and yes we can pick it apart and say this one was awesome, another immense, one below par, one woeful etc but it's a team game and they have been shaped like that by NJ.
It's been a long time since we have had a team this together, a long time since we've had a team we are proud to support, a long time since we have had a team that doesn't give up and a long time since we have had a team this fit.
Wycombe came to frustrate, to restrict us and basically played for penalties. Their last shot on target was on 22 minutes, on Sunday. They are, under Dodds, and anti football team. It wasn't pretty tonight but we deserved to win, justice was served.
From where we were in mid December to now is a quite remarkable turn around, one none of us expected. NJ has done a tremendous job, whatever happens next.
See you all at Wembley. Come on you Addicks !!17 -

I too was on the Wycombe-bound train with the Wycombe fans. That lot always crack me up. When we ended their unbeaten streak at The Valley back in December, the moment they clocked me on the train, they started pretending that they were glad that their streak had came to an end as they didn't want it to go on for too long.
On the way to the game this afternoon, I overheard Wycombe fans going on about how Charlton Athletic was a 'cool team'. As soon as they clocked me, they did a 180 and we were suddenly a joke of a club.
More of the same on the train back as they were making out that they're pleased to not be going up the moment they saw me sat there in my Charlton shirt.
The downside to living near Wycombe is that I was refused boarding in my last bus home as the driver was a Wycombe fan. Fortunately, he wasn't too bright as he was more than happy to tell me that I couldn't board due to being a Charlton fan on video as well.
What he doesn't realise is that this means that I will be reimbursed for my taxi home and he is going to lose his job. So much for trying to get one over on a Charlton fan just because his team lost.

Waking to work after what feels like about 5mins of sleep, absolutely buzzzzzzing still, my sister lives on the Cherry Orchard and said the front room shook a little as we scored11

Brilliant night under the lights at the valley. Amazing noise when that goal went in
But seeing as it's you it makes sense.

Their best bet at getting anything was hitting us on the counter and we weren’t going to let that happened once we scored. We’re so solid and organised at the back, it really was just a case of waiting for the seconds to tick by so we could celebrate. Haven’t had a Charlton team like that in a long time
Wycombe have been shot to pieces for the past two months, Orient will be a different game altogether.

No one is talking about the ref. Which is exactly as it should be.32

£50 on them going down next season would be a good bet.If I was a Wycombe fan I would be furious to see how the past two months have unfolded, they should have gone up automatically, then to produce these two performances must be devastating for the fans.6 -

Amazing night and result…..our fans cried when a few Wrexham fans gave it us but some of our fans decided to lob flares are their fans. That’s someone getting a knock on the door in the morning and us getting a massive fine….oh well Wembley1

Was a little worried when Chuks came on as felt a bit early and Small hadnt shown signs of tiring, but he was effective.
Also thought Anderson was faultless in his short time, yet again. Showed some skill, won a free kick and pressed hard when we needed it.20 -
When we scored I stalled a celebration as thought the ref was going to give a foul on their keeper. That's how charltonised I am....I always think something shit will happen.
Its more relief than anything. We were very good defensively and it's something to be proud of.
Wycombe are a good side, and had reasonable chances but we wore them out and made them look clueless.
They often tried bullying us off the ball and it mostly didn't work.10 -
Lloyd Jones dominating both boxes is a joy to watch.19
-
Poor game to watch .... no flow ... both sets of players too scared to put a foot wrong .... but who cares .... we won with a late scrappy goal .... MoM Jones0

Charlton will surely get a fine when a young fan runs the length of the pitch to lob a flare at the opposition.
Had a weak throw luckily but he must've been seen on Candid camera.
TBF you're always going to get the odd Cockwomble in our fan base but shame that we can't just celebrate without the shite that happened decades ago returning.
My ears are still buzzing and pleased to see Thierry celebrating at the end as why he was taken off is a mystery when he would've skinned Grimmer who had TC in his pocket tonight and it wasn't a fitness issue as Small was gutted when taken off.
They won't be any repercussions for Nathan as we won but Small had nearly scored when cutting in plus Matty nearly got his head on the ball.
I know Small hasn't signed a contract...
