What a night!!!!
am away for the final sadly, but this was one for all of us with a heart and love for Charlton. Lennie Lawrence said before the game that it only works at this place when we’re all engaged…….and we’re getting there.
Jones was a one-man aerial defence system, didn’t lose a header all game and came up with an assist……MOTM without doubt! Special mentions for Gilbert (how the hell can anyone slag of his performance I'll never know) and Godders for running non-stop despite any service and pouncing when the moment came.
Just home after a cracking night and such a joy to see a full Valley…….COYA!!!9 -
Train back with Dean Kiely from Charlton to London. A very personable and chatty chap.24

PWR (I'll catch up tomorrow)
Just got home and that 290-mile round trip was worth it.
The game was god-awful, the result Godden-great.
The crowd was terrific this evening, tremendous noise; I thought the roof was going to be lifted off the Cupboard End on a few occasions!
Wycombe can Foxtrot Romeo Oscar - horrid team full of divers and cheats hoping to thug their way through ... tough titties to them.10 -
Lot been said about Ramsay’s blocks, and rightly so, but big shout out to Gilly who did just enough to nudge Kone when he broke into the box so making him shoot into the side netting. Really good defending.53

swords_alive said:Was a little worried when Chuks came on as felt a bit early and Small hadnt shown signs of tiring, but he was effective.
Also thought Anderson was faultless in his short time, yet again. Showed some skill, won a free kick and pressed hard when we needed it.13 -
Just watched the pre match Sky stuff and then the second half and post match stuff. How lovely it was to see some much welcome coverage of Wrexham and especially the shots of their owners celebrating their promotion. Just a bit surprised there wasn’t a homage to Birmingham too.17

I joined this forum on 20 Dec 2006, the day after our Premier League team lost 1-0 at home to lowly Wycombe in the league cup and we chanted “You’re not fit to wear the shirt” at them. That season was of course the beginning of the post Curbs demise. I was furious we’d flown down from Scotland to witness that.
Finally tonight, 19.5 years later, after flying down again from Scotland, take that Wycombe!I wasn’t nervous at all today apart from about five mins midway through second half.
What a team. What an atmosphere. Roll on Wembley.
Now I really ought to go to bed!27 -

There was one bit with five or 10 minutes to go when they played the ball across their back four, and the whole pitch opened up ahead of them. Anderson sprinted flat out from one side of the pitch to the other, to close the right back down - and just got a slight touch on the ball to divert it away from the intended target. Bloody brilliant.(PS Sleeping not going well).16

Just got home to bed. Brilliant! All roads north seemed to be closed for roadworks, nearly had to go through Wycombe. UTA5

Was watching replay at 7am as again failed to rise at 3am...
All I knew was that the video was 3 hours + (same length as the Orient one yesterday).
Was well prepared for penalties...
When we scored so late, I was spewing, being convinced that the shites will equalize on final minute of injury time.
Still waiting 🤣🤣🤣5 -
Just had a quick listen to the 6 December CharltonLive pod -post the Crawley defeat . Wow that was some nadir @LouisMend and co what a miserable lot you were 😂 (I know it was justified at the time) but Jones would probably reflect that you were “not at it”, “not the best versions of yourselves” and “so on” “in terms of things”7
-
What a cameo from Anderson. Everything he did took pressure off , ensuring they barely had a sniff after the goal.28

So Wembley watch out, we are on our way to you, edge of seat stuff, not the result, but when we would get the winner, and who else but Godden 👍
So the two footballing teams are through and the cloggers of Stockpot and Wycombe have been dealt with.
Now we can relax and start planning for the final, but for now just celebrate 🍺🍺🍺🍺0 -
Still on a massive high from last night, fell asleep and woke up with the ‘Godden again, ole ole’ song in my head.4

JamesSeed said:Incidentally, haven’t seen a replay yet, but did Lloyd Jones bring that ball down from Gillesphey‘s pass to set up the winner? Wasn’t sure if it hit the defender. If it was Jones it was sheer class.1

I woke to 'Godden again Ole Ole' - fantastic last night - but one hour 26 minutes into my morning and it's still rattling round inside my head on a continual loop. Becoming tiresome now ...3

Magical night at the Valley, whole team deserve huge credit for a magnificent effort and for getting the goal we needed to get to Wembley. Well done to Charlton for pulling out all the stops in the pre-match build up, I was sat 8 rows back in AC stand and the flames and flares were amazing. The whole team were incredible all of them rose to the occasion, just loved the atmosphere one of the best ever at the Valley. I hope the US owners took note of the clubs potential and will give Nathan the money and backing for next season.
Can't wait for Wembley, hope the club get maximum tickets as we will sell out our end with 40K+ Addicks.COYA's6 -

As for their time wasting, I noticed every goal kick they had, when everyone was walking up the pitch. One of the players was chatting to the referee about something to take his mind off the time wasting that the keeper was doing.
He soon sped up when we scored, they were so anti football and their aim was to get to penalties.10 -

We know and he knows that we haven't won anything yet but after enduring the crap we've faced over the last six years explains our sheer bloody relief tonight that we are hopefully on our way back.
Well done boys.& to be fair most of the Wycombe supporters were saying the best team won & were criticising their own manager for their dreadful "style" of football.

The EFL must have breathed a sigh of relief, I bet they had images of cold calling Wycombe residents begging them to buy tickets for Wembley.29

NorthheathAddick said:What a team…never gave in again,Wycombe trying everything in their power to stop a game of football, ref was 100 times better than Sunday, but did book Godden for kicking ball away yet just before that never booked their player who did the same, well it seemed to me to take an age that goal im sure I saw it in slow motion then was waiting for it to be disallowed for a foul on the keeper…got to mention Ramsay his blocks were as good as the goal scored…defence stood firm with Lloyd winning everything, midfield once they worked it out to keep it in the floor gave us that edge, wasn’t alot going up top for most of game but they did enough…& Chuks did his job to a T when he came on…along with the rest of the team who just get more determined not to be beaten…gotta love NJ at the end too…One more will do it boys, roll on Wemmmbeerleeey ❤️🤍

Wycombe decided the only way they could beat us was to stop us and hope they nicked something. They were probably right. It was difficult as their was absolutely no space for our front players but their tactic came with risks. We only needed one chance to fall our way.10
