He's proving to be no better than the last 5 or six managers. In fact i'd take Holden back in a heartbeat.
Problem is, he has assembled a side if absolute garbage. So even if we did sack him, we're stuck with the shite he signed for the duration of the contracts.
I for one am glad we are stuck with all the shite he’s signed on long term contracts.
Tremendous moment in the last minute when the ball went in to the crowd behind the dug out and one of our fans immediatley returned the ball back to the waiting Wycombe player. Jones went absolutely bonkers at the fan - proper full melt down. Loved it.
There’s a lot of humble pie on here and rightly so, not least from me . The team spirit and togetherness is remarkable . The problem he had at the time was that football was horrendous and we were not winning games - it’s not a good cocktail. Anyone can accept us being a hard and not aesthetically pleasing watch if we are winning .
Theres one bit on the highlights where Jones is going into his full meltdown and the Charlton subs seem to pissing themselves laughing, before going mad themselves when the whistle blows...
The guy is a nutter, we all know that. If i was him i personally would've saved that kind of stuff for if we win the final, not scraping through a semi final. Ultimately we haven't achieved anything yet.
But they did say it's his first ever win in a play off (last night was his 6th match) so i can understand it after a very tense night.

I think that's just who he is and how he works, Curbs mantra about highs and lows definitely doesn't appear to be one NJ subscribes to but it seems to work for him.
Time to reflect and say well done to the bloke. Actually, not sure simply well done covers it. Yes, I doubted in October/November and a bit of December but he has shown he has got something about him. He is perfectly justified in throwing it back at us, but we were awful in those months to be fair. I think he was looking for that special something and clearly found it at Northampton and we never looked back.

Can't image the amount of hard work he must have put in to get the team turned around, and then the self belief in his methods and the tough decisions he took on players. Just one more game. COYA

I think from the outside it's easy for people to go " oh he's doing it all for the cameras''. No that's genuinely just how he is. Don't think people have forgotten the Southampton stint and some of those press conferences either and that will always be used against him

I suspect that most people would have cut NJ a bit more slack had we not been the victims of so many managers that either weren't good enough or the job with the resources available to them (i.e. players that they didn't want) was too big.
NJ is marmite and I suspect that's that case not just for fans but for players too. They either totally buy into him and his unique ways (as they did at Luton and have clearly done with us) or they they don't at all (as in the case at Southampton and Stoke).
It is a given that we all hope to win the play off final but, for me, it is then about layering that dynamism, on top of the existing solidity, that is missing which we will need to survive in the Championship and perhaps go even further. We are talking about spending something like £3m on say Keillor-Dunn. But, perhaps, that debates for another day. There is only one focus right now.

All the OTT stuff is fine but it did look a little camera play and I’m gutted Sky chose to focus on that rather than the wider celebrations at the end.

I stopped posting in support of Appleton towards the end because I saw the writing on the wall.
There’s actually a great discussion on the Apples thread about managers turning it around after a really poor run of form. I gave Alex Ferguson and Chris Powell as examples but no one wanted to hear it. I suppose we can add Nathan Jones to the list.
I actually got to the same place with Jones after Crawley (stopping posting in support of him) which just goes to show how nonsense this all is.
In retrospect, giving Appleton as much time as we did was still enough for NJ to rescue us, and giving NJ as much time as we did was enough for him to turn it around and get us to a play off final. I think I’m a lot closer to being reasonable than people calling for a manager to be sacked after three losses in a row in October…

Whilst I always stuck up for Nathan, I might have been persuaded he had to go after that terrible night in December. But thankfully he stayed, and I would like to say thank you to him for the pleasure him and his team gave me last night. That must have been one, if not the best night in over 66 years of supporting the Addicts, if you read this you made an old man very happy, thank you again.

I agree, is he a bit of a lunatic, probably yes but he's OUR lunatic. I definitely wouldn't want to work for him myself but you have to respect his achievements over the season as a whole
