Lots of wasted energy on this thread!
Go through your picture reels on your phones, click on you tube, watch and listen to the crowd explode when Godden scores again.

It’s a great day to be a Charlton fan! Wembley tickets for our final were bought!!

Unfortunately Palace deserved the win. City were clueless up top.

Disgraceful Henderson wasn’t sent off though.

    I feel sick.

All throughout our shitness and their flukey survival in the Premier League, we've been able to cling on to the fact that they've never won anything and their history is a work of fiction.

That all changes today. It's a disaster. The tiny consolation is hoping their ultras take a hiding in Hungary or Bulgaria or some other dodgy place. But this is a dark dark day. Time to close the curtains and drink myself to sleep.

However grim Palace winning is, it's quite satisfying seeing City win nothing this season.

Tactically, they looked so predictable against a low block. Passing it from side to side, then eventually knocking it into the box towards Haarland. And how can Grealish go from a £100m signing to not even coming off the bench?

I am 59 and was brought up on football from '76, it was very tribal then, and I think many fans from that era will say the same.

Indeed, that was always my retort when my palace supporting mates and stepson gave me shit about Charlton, always used to say to them they should come to the valley and see a trophy cabinet with something in it, ffs, ruined by City🤦‍♂️

The difference being, they have witnessed one being won.

Yes it’s really annoying but we shouldn’t get too down about it. Thursday demonstrates what our club can get back to being. They will always be a shitty club with shitty fans and a shitty ground.

Really not bothered, have got over the way they treated us at Selhurst, and if someone like Palace can win the FA Cup then so can we!

Watched the second half. These millionaire players are stealing a living.
Agreed, despite the obvious displeasure at the result, that was a shit game of football
I may be slightly biased but that really was no better than our game the other night - head tennis anyone?

Is this the first time a Surrey club have been in the final?

    No.
The Royal Engineers were the 1st in 1872.

Imo THE thing we had over the filth is that they had not won a major cup, that is now gone.  This was our bragging rights.

Pretty annoying that, but was always a possibility the longer they stay in the Premier league. Thought they'd win today so didn't bother watching it

Let's hope next Sunday we can start making first steps towards getting back to the PL

Sorry, but a disaster? In life's scheme of things, it really isn't. Take a look at what's happening elsewhere in the world today to put it in perspective. Can't you give us one of your wonderful house buying analogies instead.😉

That said it is Eurovision tonight. Maybe I will I follow your lead.

    1. They are from Surrey.
    2. They robbed us blind
    3. Should have had a 20 point deduction not 10
    4. Hope their first game in Europe is in Belarus.
    Other than that.

They got into the PL a few months after breaking their transfer record... Which was a few months after they went bust, knocking local businesses and the St Johns Ambulance by paying 1p in the £1 owed.

I can think of other less complementary words to describe Eurovision, and I reserve my passion for Charlton as they're my team.

Highlights on bbc1 at 12.25am tonight for anyone interested in a recap. Don't want to ruin it for anyone who didn't watch live but scoring 'against the run of play' has never been more aptly used.

And how 'the eagle has landed'- the bbc did enjoy that one!

Life's too short to get worked up about another team winning, when there is so much suffering in the world.

It's nice to see a different team win the FA Cup instead of the same few teams.

Make sure you buy an Orient fan a beer next week if they turn us over.
Today has been a disaster, @MrLargo thousands feel your pain.

This afternoons result would have been a lot worse if we finished outside the playoffs in league one again!

I guess if any palace fans brag infront of you just be very stubborn saying you didn't deserve it as should have had your keeper sent off.

Might wind them up by a fraction.....

Extremely annoying to say the least, compounded by the fact that Palace will also now have European football.

There was, however, no injustice today. City were predictable, out of ideas and had an infuriating reluctance to put the ball in the box. The end of an era perhaps for Pep's tippy tappy style of football ?
Other than the blatant red card not given you mean?
I didn’t think it was blatant at the time in terms of denying a clear goalscoring opportunity, although Henderson was clearly outside the box. The way City were playing, I don’t think you can assume they would have beaten 10 men.

Given their thoroughly insipid performance, do you really think that, viewed objectively, City deserved to win the Cup ?

Jesus. For the avoidance of doubt, it is clearly not a disaster in the context of world events. In the context of being a Charlton supporter, it's a disaster.

So if we do not go up next week, you'll be thinking it is great that Orient have not been in the 2nd division since 1982.

14 pages, 400+ posts for an FA Cup Final involving two teams 99% of us can't stand, unbelievable...
