Extremely annoying to say the least, compounded by the fact that Palace will also now have European football.

There was, however, no injustice today. City were predictable, out of ideas and had an infuriating reluctance to put the ball in the box. The end of an era perhaps for Pep's tippy tappy style of football ?
Other than the blatant red card not given you mean?
I didn’t think it was blatant at the time in terms of denying a clear goalscoring opportunity, although Henderson was clearly outside the box. The way City were playing, I don’t think you can assume they would have beaten 10 men.

Given their thoroughly insipid performance, do you really think that, viewed objectively, City deserved to win the Cup ?
You said no injustice, when there was definitely some injustice. Clearest red you can get.

All throughout our shitness and their flukey survival in the Premier League, we've been able to cling on to the fact that they've never won anything and their history is a work of fiction.

That all changes today. It's a disaster. The tiny consolation is hoping their ultras take a hiding in Hungary or Bulgaria or some other dodgy place. But this is a dark dark day. Time to close the curtains and drink myself to sleep.
Sorry, but a disaster? In life's scheme of things, it really isn't. Take a look at what's happening elsewhere in the world today to put it in perspective. Can't you give us one of your wonderful house buying analogies instead.😉

That said it is Eurovision tonight. Maybe I will I follow your lead.

    It's called passion.
I can think of other less complementary words to describe Eurovision, and I reserve my passion for Charlton as they're my team.

Make sure you buy an Orient fan a beer next week if they turn us over.
Today has been a disaster, @MrLargo thousands feel your pain.
Why would I want to buy an Orient fan a beer if they beat us? What a weird comment. I support Charlton. Always have. Always will. Wouldn't be on here if I didn't.
  • Life's too short to get worked up about another team winning, when there is so much suffering in the world.

It's nice to see a different team win the FA Cup instead of the same few teams.

So if we do not go up next week, you'll be thinking it is great that Orient have not been in the 2nd division since 1982.
That's not the same scenario. Today's match was between two different teams, nothing to do with Charlton. Next week Charlton ate involved.
  • 14 pages, 400+ posts for an FA Cup Final involving two teams 99% of us can't stand, unbelievable...

This is one of the very few posts of yours I do not laugh at, your humour tickles me.  This thread was geared at 'them' not lifting the cup.

    1982?
They can play nice football and now you mention it that could be a small silver lining.

    Pep's tactics are looking Passé.
Plus you don't keep player's hungry if you give one player, a nine year contract that costs more than many poor countries GNP.

I thought Palace had too many good  players not to get up to mid table when they were 4th from Bottom.
If a team concede 1 goal from 3rd round to final you have a strong base and are going to be hard to beat.

I suffer more than you doughnuts as I live amongst Chelsea and Palace fans so I had to grow a pair.

When Henderson didn't get send off for the obvious hand ball outside the box and the free kick that should've been the right decision I felt that Eze's "God man," was a stripey fan.

When the ref gave a penalty to even up the mistake that wasn't, as Mitchell definitely got a toe to the ball I knew certainly that was " God man" when the 500k a week Haaland handed the ball over and Henderson who was MOM for not getting a Red made another decent save. Sad that his Dad passed away earlier this year.

I wish 'God' would stop helping Footballers, Golfers, and Athletes reaching their dreams and stop children dying in Wars and starving instead.

No injustice in terms of the outcome.

That is typical from you, disagreeing.
I'll not reply back to your next ridiculous post, I do not want this thread to be derailed.

  • Try not to think of it as Palace winning.

Try to think of it as City losing.
Sorry, one and the same and logic don't come into it mate

Suits me, you've made yourself sound ridiculous.
  • A South London Wembley treble? Palace, Addicks and Wombles?

Great result and great support. Hopefully they leave a bit of South London energy at that (West) end of the stadium for us to inherit next week
    So they’re south London now?
    SE25 postcode says they are.
  • 1. They are from Surrey.
    2. They robbed us blind
    3. Should have had a 20 point deduction not 10
    4. Hope their first game in Europe is in Belarus.
    Other than that.
If SE25 is in Surrey what is SE7 in  ???

No injustice in terms of the outcome.
But the outcome was directly affected by that injustice.

For Newcastle to beat Liverpool in the League cup was good for the competition.
For Palace to beat Man City in the FA cup was good for the Competition.

Let's hope one favourite wins on Sunday week at Wembley.
  • I was at Wembley today & can confirm the palace fans are a very strange bunch!
  • This is more than just a FA Cup win. I mean that’s bad enough in itself.
But now they have European football next season. all their star players will stay. Glasner will stay. There will be zero chance of them getting relegated any time soon. They’re are a fully fledged established premier league club and will be for a very long time.
Thousands of little kids from the Surrey/kent borders, who would have previously’picked’ someone like Chelsea, Man City or arsenal to support will opt for their local club. Any development to the ground and additional seating, they will fill it with ease. I think they already sell all their available season tickets.

Oh this is a dark day indeed. And to think, some of you on here wanted them to beat us when we played them earlier in the competition. 🙄
Agree. We can only hope some of the real big boys come for the likes of Eze and Guehi. If they get offered a move on much bigger money I still think they would go.
  • Imo THE thing we had over the filth is that they had not won a major cup, that is now gone.  This was our bragging rights.

I'm now going to retire on this sad day.
The wife has just said I've got the hump more tonight,  than whenever we lose.

I think there better players will still move on anyway. Leicester won the Premier League and it still didn't stop there best players leaving.

Palace will still only ever be able to pay so much a week compared to what the elite teams will be able to offer them. Same with Glazner. If there best players have got moves lined up to Man City, Man Utd etc I don't see an FA Cup win changing that.
  • Don’t know why but wanted Palace to win hated schlepping over there for home games but like the fact it wasn’t Man City also have a good mate who is a Palace fan so pleased for him

So things can only get better!
Mrs CLB74 needs to know this is more than having the needle.
