ULTIMATE MATCH PREVIEW: Charlton Athletic vs Leyton Orient | Sunday 25th May - 1pm KO

Exactly - and this is why Small was so effective in the home leg - he had much more space than TC. You could argue it was TC who gave Small that space as he was the focus of their defenders. Orient won't be able to double up on both of them...The Red Robin said:Tupac has been tripled up on the last few games. He’s had little flashes but not at the usual level. Looked better on Thursday when Jones switched him. Hopefully he gets a bit more freedom on Sunday.10 -
So much for Charlton vs Wycombe being the average game in the Semi-Finals, and as a result other forum's think that Orient stand a better chance because they played better against Stockport.

Stockport only have themselves to blame for not making the final , 2-0 to the mighty Charlton3

I think this is a bit unfair to TC. He had that purple patch where the team were playing well and he was the main man and scoring goals. Naturally that led to teams preparing more to negate him as a way to stop us, throw in that TS got injured at the same time and so we lost our other major threat meaning that teams could double up on him. In the semi's Wycombe did a job on him, the first leg in particular Gimmer barely touched the ball but the ref allowed him to have both arms around TC every time. He was up against two much more physical players whose only remit was to stop him playing. I've seen no less hard work or battling from him in that time it was just a missmatch.Braziliance said:
Slightly concerned he's got a big offer and reserving himself the last few games in case of injury.AFKABartram said:I’d like to see Tyreece make me sway again. Don’t think he’s been quite on it over the last 4 games and if we are to be successful, we need a game out of him
Hasn't been the same since around Cambridge away. Isn't getting stuck in as much, isn't tracking as much, isn't running as much, not taking people on.
To get pocketed twice by Grimmer is poor, that lad is a proper league 1 gatekeeper full back. Literally didn't jump for a header against him, didn't try and outmuscle him, has been weird to watch. A few months ago he was getting praise for his physicality, but it seems to have vanished the last month.
Hopefully I'm wrong but the Campbell we saw at Mansfield away, Cambridge away, Huddersfield at home etc isn't present currently.
As others have said, Orient wont be able to do that to the same extent, bigger pitch, TS on the other wing, less physical players on that side of Orient's defence. Backing him to have a good game.8 -

Whatever be about the final result of this season, I'm really proud of CAFC, and also really proud for chosing them as my favourite british football club among all. This is real football, these are real feelings, not another mediatic and commertial club as many others are.COYR!!!All my support from this Spanish fan from Madrid.Saludos para tod@s!!41

Time will tell. He pretty much hid last game, didn't contest Grimmer at all and looked knackered. Plenty of times he was one on one but opted not to take it.cantersaddick said:

We will find out in a few weeks anyway, ditto Small, if he's going to go, I don't mind if he puts in a shift and gets us promoted.
Want to see the Campbell a month ago who was taking his full backs on.1 -
I think TC was quite clearly knackered towards the end of the season so dropped off a little, that Cambridge game he was brilliant but also looked like he could barely walk at times.Braziliance said:

Want to see the Campbell a month ago who was taking his full backs on.The Wycombe games were tough for any attacking player on either side to look good. How many times did we get the ball to him on the floor in a 1v1 situation? Not many. It is down to the rest of the team to work the ball into a 1v1 situation for TC and Small, if we aren’t doing that then they are always going to have minimal impact on a game4 -

That's because they were doubling up on TC so naturally that left more space for TS. Sometimes when teams do that your role has to just become to occupy those 2 defenders and allow others to use the space4 -
Can't lie that's not what I saw at all, both games. Plenty of people around me also saying TC didn't look up for it, and it's no coincidence Grimmer got motm at their place.cantersaddick said:Braziliance said:

He was all over him. Hopefully an easier game for TC on Sunday and he can recapture his old form. VAR might help with this also where all the man handling could lead to some decisions.0 -
and when he switched sides he came alive, just happens sometimes that a full back has a good game, also not helped with Josh sitting a bit deeper in these two games, so the space wasn't there as much.Braziliance said:

Feels like no one really wants us to win because it seems most of the league has a weird problem with NJ or " Orient are a better footballing side based off the semi final"
Wycombes tactics were hang it out for 120 mins and hope they can win on pens which is a huge reflection on us. Fancy Godden to get a lot of joy against REG.10 -
What’s the betting on a penalty for one or both teams based on the amount of wrestling at corners that is usually allowed in League 1, but which will be picked up by VAR?3
-
I think our defence won’t be under much threat from VAR, the Kayne, Jones and Macca have been class and don’t necessarily have to rely on any of the dark arts. Just a quality back 3.
Orient on the other hand, watched a few of there games this season and there defence seems a bit erratic and lots of bumbling and hacking involved. Seems as though pratters has been giving them some tips!3 -
But he didn't hide, he kept looking for the ball and kept trying but he had two players on him most of the time trying to kick him up in the air. That is a grossly unfair slur on him, especially implying he didn't put a shift in!, he's a 21 year old lad up against seasoned professionals who were determined to neutralise him using whatever methods they could.Braziliance said:

We don't seem to have had a penalty since I was about fifteen years old so if one gets given I doubt it will go our way...1

Charlton corner, O's defender on Godden ...
Play on, no foul.0 -

They couldn't even see a deliberate handball in the cup final. 😞4 -

Relax, its a footballing opinion. He hasn't been of the standard I expect, and hasn't made up for it with work rates from what I've seen.
It's a preview thread, I am highlighting one of our key players not being at it. That's it.

He was fairly dirty vs us for Shrewsbury in 2018. When I've watched him this season he's been very hands on and got away with a lot, and that he's openly spoke out against VAR.
Just got this sneaky feeling he's gonna bring someone down, it will get checked and Godden will put a penalty away right infront of us.5 -
