  • My only concern is all 3 play off wins .leeds 87 sunderland 98 and 2019 we were underdogs this time we are favorites
  • On Saturday afternoon my wife and I are going to see the new Tom Cruise film, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.

I've not seen a trailer or read anything about it but I think the story starts in early December last year with Tom Cruise revealing that his Ethan Hunt character is actually the alter ego of a manic Welshman called Jones. The film then charts the struggles to see his team through to the desired conclusion culminating in the "Final Reckoning" at Wembley.

The film co-stars Ving Rhames as Curtis Fleming, Hayley Attwell as Tracey Leaburn and Simon Pegg as Matty Godden. The running time is almost three hours which makes me wonder whether that's including extra-time and possibly penalties.

    Should be a ripper!
Just back from the Fakenham picture house and having fish and chips afterwards.

I weren't too far out with the film's synopsis 😉 but I can't help feeling that if we succeed tomorrow having sat through THAT game in December this would seem more far-fetched than what I saw this arvo!
  • I think if there is any lack of confidence or concern it stems from the way Orient play. We are very comfortable against sides with a target man who play it long. We are less comfortable against a team with pace and movement. Orient have both but we have seen that if we can see out the first 20 mins or so we will establish ourselves in the game. They are certainly susceptible at the back and we need to make set pieces count.

We played them in March, they’ve not changed there style hugely, and they didn’t really cause us massive problems.

Maybe it changes tomorrow, and the League 1 Barcelona that Ali Maxwell has made them out to be will rock up (I like NTT20, but I think Maxwell has a thing for Wellens, that clouds everything), but I didn’t see that against Stockport in either leg.
  • "Experts" would know fuck all about Orient OR us. Most would need an A to Z or Google Maps to find The Valley or Brisbane Road.

Fuck em, we are the experts about Charlton and Orient.
The 'experts' would be looking for Cheltenham Athletic at Valley Parade!!

I still think it’s going to be frantic, rather than tight. Think Orient twill go for it & try and outscore us.
It’s one of the most effective ways to win a football match.
It is. Which is why I think they won’t worry too much about conceding, as they look decent when attacking. Bit like Newcastle United under Kevin Keegan… win 3-2 or 4-3, rather than lose 2-1.

We surely weren't the underdogs in 2019...? - We'd finished 3rd and had entered the Play-Offs on the back of some great form, Sunderland finished 5th, and like Portsmouth pretty much limped over the line.
We were slight underdogs according to the odds in 2019

    Charlton 11/5
    Draw 2/1
    Sunderland 13/8

  • Had about 7 pints today so feeling alright but know I'll be feeling nervous tomorrow
    2-1 Charlton, Jones and Godden
  • Less than 17 hours till kick off.

Now shut up every one and get some sleep
  • I'm getting really nervous now. Not sure I'm gonna get much sleep tonight
  • The fact that Sunderland have won today is good for us as favourites because it makes us more fully aware that complacency will lose us this game. Jones will be telling them all not to be complacent when going into this game even though we are favourites. So yes, Sunderland winning May have done us a favour .
I keep reading that we are favourites but also that everyone in the media thinks Orient will win.

    Make your minds up.

I think it is a case of Charlton finished higher, so are favourites. But people would like to see Orient win.
  • I really hope Berry plays, he offers something different and is such an intelligent player. My only worry is Docherty. IMO he gives the ball away far too much. Apart from that I think on paper we have a better side. We need Campbell and Godden to do what they do best and then we will come home happy. 🤞COYR

Berry also has that moment of quality in him when a chance comes

Especially in the 90+2 minute ...
  • Is it just me or is anyone nervous like cant sleep at the moment. Crazy after all the years following this club it would effect me this way.

Can hardly think of anything else at the moment. It’s almost i want it done and dusted either way so i can move on with my life. Us coming out on top of course.
Wait, what? Is there a game on?
  • Both teams have good reason to be confident. But if we turn up, we win. It's a simple as that.
  • will Charlton commit murder on the Orient express?
  • It's a sign!

Before the final part of tonight's 1% Club, the trustatrader.com programme sponsor bit had someone searching for a painter and decorater in ...

    CHARLTON.

    Victory is assured!

    😉

  • Little one excited for the game! Obviously ain't going but excited all the same!

Cute baby mate. Don't want to burst your bubble, but he really doesn't care about tomorrow's game. He's more worried about where his milk is, and the trajectory during his next nappy change.😩
