No doubt back in the time their ground, what's it called, the Priesthood stadium or something?, was mainly terraced.

Just like 75,000 crowds are now a thing of the past at The Valley.

You've got to be joking mate, for a lot of Charlton fans it's nearer than going to the Valley. We'd always sell out there.

Not a new ground for me, I remember going there with Welling in the FA cup a few years ago, loads of Charlton there that day, the OB tried to keep us in at the end and we ran up a bank of builders sand against the back fence that led into the alley, over we went, great day out.

Been there a couple of times with Charlton and once years back with my uncle to watch Man Utd in a pre season, as he's a Utd fan. (Neil Webb played I think)

Remember that DA9, had forgot it was with welling, jills were a bit surprised by welling turnout that day I think. Remember jumping the wall into the alley.

I was there for the Welling game, though was only 13 at the time. Me and my mate spent hours cutting up news papers to give a ticker tape reception when the players run out. Had bags of the stuff. Got there and the stewards wouldn't let us in with it. My dad thought is was hilarious.

We drew i think, then beat them in the replay back at Park View. Good times.

They played 3 times in all, 2 draws, one at Welling, then Priestfiled, then Gillingham won the 2nd replay at Welling (I think)

Not sure how many games there were but Welling definitely beat them 1-0 at Park View Rd
  • I was at the Welling games too. Didn't Welling get drawn at home to Reading in the 2nd Round & get beaten in a game right before Xmas?
  • They definitely beat Gillingham as i was there and remember it. Didn't they have 2 or 3 replays with Reading before going out?
I'm sure this was the year after they'd been knocked out by Blackburn in the 3rd round.

Correct. The Late John Glover scored the winner at PVR after a nil nil draw at Gillingham.

I remember the games at Park View, Gills and Blackburn. The Blackburn players looked shell-shocked when they came on the field - having seen the state of the Welling dressing rooms in those days I was not surprised!

Met a fair few Blackburn fans in Welling pubs that day who had been to the Members Cup final game with us at Wembley. They were ok in those days before they got Walker's money.

Thats the game when the wall/advertising boarding collapsed behind the goal and everyone spilled onto the pitch!!

Gillingham had a go as we were leaving the ground but came un-stuck when welling/charlton didnt move.....lol

I stand corrected on the final result, but I am sure there were 2 replays.

Only the one replay. The next round against Reading there were 3 replays.

The winner was scored by Mark Hone, Johnny Glover got the equalizer against Reading at PVR in the next round.

I've been in one of those 'Executive Boxes'

If you get all ten people in there, no one else can actually get into the 'box' to serve your food. There's more room in a veal calf crate.
