  • Sorry I’m a total Luddite, what do get when you sign up, is it emails, a short of newspaper or what? I would like to sign up as he deserves it for his past efforts, but I don’t want to be inundated with adverts and other rubbish. Sorry to you young’ un this question may sound stupid, but l just don’t what he’s producing.
  • Best of luck with the Substack, Richard. I lost my job in the local press this year and launched a similar project covering my home patch, the Folkestone Dispatch. A bit daunting to go it alone, but it's amazing to see that people who value your work will support it incredibly generously.

An email each time an article is published in which you can read it off that

    No adverts, No other rubbish

I'm local to Folkestone and have never heard of your Substack. I'll check it out later!

  • For those of you not sure about whether to hand over cash straight away (e.g. because you are not familiar with the Substack platform) I have five free one month trials to give away (I got them after taking out an annual sub). DM  me if you'd like to use one.

@CharltonKerry if you'd like to use one before you take the plunge, give me a shout.
  • What has happened to Louis Mendez?

Nothing. He wasn’t employed by the SLP, he was a contributor.
    Thanks Airman

Please do. Only launched in April, so still very much trying to get the word out there!
  • I have also paid to join.
  • Just signed up for a year and wished him luck.
Hope he manages to keep in touch with his many useful contacts.🤞

Not good news I'm afraid - last seen at Peppa Pig world......
    Working?

Fair play to the lad, he won’t let his family go hungry…
    Literally bringing home the bacon
Wonderful that you and the team have welcomed the info being given out re his new venture.
I expect he will be in touch with you guys from time to time….and vice versa.
  • Subscribed for a year (thanks bet365 with PSG and the French Open!)

Good first article from Rich, his Substack is gonna be even better than what I hoped The Athletic would start to give us now we've been promoted to The Championship.

Sadly, they haven't even written about our promotion, plenty of Wrexham content on there though...

Was disappointed to go onto The Athletic this morning and all they had EFL wise was a whole breakdown on Wrexham's squad and how they might approach the summer. Should do that for all the newly promoted teams but I guess Wrexham drives the clicks.

Was a good comment underneath from someone " did you even realise Charlton and AFC Wimbledon got promoted or are you just going to cover Wrexham"
They had a story staring them in the face with the play-off final, given where both Charlton and Orient were in the play-offs. But yeah, the effing clicks. Thig is, they get subs too form the likes of me. The worst thing is that their most recent article remains the one about Darren New, which has turned out to be a pretty poor piece of journalism, and should have been quietly withdrawn
