Deadline Day from Pg.641 - Summer 2025 Charlton Athletic Transfer Rumours

I always thought Famewo looked like he had the raw ability to be a good CB. He did alright in an awful side, playing with the likes of MacGilvray, Innis, Gilbey, Ben Watson, Gunter, etc.5
-
I would be very whelmed with that. But in retrospect, he probably made Inniss look good in that partnership at the time.3
-
Happily take Famewo, championship experience, left footed, entering his prime, knows the club, worked with Nj previously and was decent on loan at us has his injury issues but always have Macca as well bout having good quality in depth2
-
Thought he was a bit of a liability0
-
Would add a bit of pace and power to the left side of our defence. Knows the club, knows the manager. If Dr. Will can work his magic, could be a decent signing on a free.1
-
Not for me no.2
-
Reasonably mobile but highly susceptible to a ball over the top if I recall correctly. And passing wasn’t a strong point. Maybe he’s improved since he left us. Decent squad player I suppose1
-
I was a fan of his when he used to play for us and he's done a decent job at Sheff Wed. His injury history is a bit of a concern but I wouldn't be against bringing him back.0
-
I reckon our first signing won’t be far off. I too heard we had 4 already done a couple of months ago.44
-
Wonder if the Russell Martin appointment being done at Rangers now might bring some clarity on if Josh Mulligan is coming in from Dundee?1

We could do worse than Famewo but I was hoping for better. The LCB position for me was a position where I was hoping we'd bring in a clear upgrade on what we already have and I'm not sure Famewo is that.7

Would be very happy with Famewo. Wednesdag fans seem quite upset at him leaving, which is a good sign. He’s got pace which is very needed at championship level. Passing was an issue but he’s played a lot of wing back at Wednesday which may have improved that.A good start.2
-
Not good enough we have better an injury prone no thanks1

Think I might have inadvertently started this!

He last played for us nearly 4 years ago. Since when he has played a lot of Championship football, to good reviews from a demanding set of fans.
Stands to reason he would have improved as a player in that time, so what we last saw may not be the best comparison.17 -

If we sign Famewo I think we can trust Jones. He’s managed him before, Famewo spent two seasons on loan here and has since spent another L1 season with Wednesday before two more in the Championship.
Worth keeping in mind he was a young CB with us in teams that finished 7th and 13th. He’s a lot more experienced now and should be a better player than he was back then.
Saying that I agree with hoping for a clear upgrade, but that’s even harder to find with a left footer.
He’d at least be decent competition for Gillesphey, and add more pace than Gillesphey has.15 -
Don't think he's as good as we first thought and has suffered badly with injuries since we last had him. Not sure he is better than Gilly either tbh.
We need depth but that is one position I'd be hoping we could add some real quality rather than a back up3 -
Thought Famewo was good the first time around, when he came back on loan the second season he struggled albeit in a poor side.
As others have said it stands to reason that he has improved over the last 4 years playing at a higher level.
We could do worse.4 -
Famewo started really well for us, for a few games him and Inniss looked a great combination.2
-
Just had word from my Wednesday supporting mate. Says Famewo's been offered a new deal there, but because of the issues of wages going unpaid, doubts he'll sign it. Says the journo is reputable.6

looked like clickbait to me0
-
Not sure it’s the same journalist but think that’s the paper that broke that Hector was signing for us0

General consensus on their fan forum seems to be that he is a good defender, decent at long ball over the top passes but not good at maintaining possession, very injury prone. Sounds like a decent signing if you are looking to be a mid table championship club(which I am fine with). But not an elite defender at this level1
