David Coote made a bad mistakes in choosing friends as well as putting himself in a position which cost him his job as an elite referee.

Being a referee you must have a thick skin or you just couldn't do the job

I admire him for getting a job as some people would've looked for the sympathy vote and cited Mental health issues and gone down the benefits road.
In life most people makes mistakes but don't have the high profile job that anyone else cares about.

Coote definitely did but he didn't kill anyone and deserves another chance in a new career or any job to pay his bills.

It's will be impossible for Coote to be a whistle blower even if he was allowed at grass roots level because of the level of abusive comments he would get.

Agree with all of the above, although like to think he MIGHT be able to get back in the game at non-league level.
It will be a shame if he cannot.
  • Can imagine it being quite liberating for the bloke, having moderately less pressure in your work. And a least he ain't got to answer to anyone if he does fancy a bit of a blow out at the end on the month

In an ideal world, like a game of snakes and ladders, Coote would be able to become a born again ref at the grass or plastic roots in the football pyramid and whistle his way back up a few rungs of the football ladder.

The problem is, the individual abuse in a crowd of a few hundred can be heard loud and clear and Coote has left himself open for the worse abuse:
    Gay, drugs, gambling, etc.

Too many loud people would go for the Jugular.
