Fantastic news. Will be interesting to see the reaction from the Cardiff journo if he sees this 😂5

When is his contract up?1
-
For people that wanted Jones to make a statement.....there it is!!22
-
Such a pity that Rich didn't go with the obvious headline...
I am going to say it!! Yes I am, Nathan Jones to sign a new, long-term contract
20 -
That Darren Witcoop and the other wannabe itk flannel with his own blog have been made to look like absolute plums16
-
This must mean Jones is satisfied with the plans from the board for the future! Brilliant news!27
-
lovely stuff0

I paid £5 a month to know the news two minutes earlier 😂 seriously I am really pleased with this news now let’s get Theirry to sign an improved contract as well10

2028, confirmed in the link below from when he joined, so I assume this means a nice pay rise, increased compensation if he leaves and hopefully a bigger transfer and wage budget for the squad.carly burn said:When is his contract up?

If I was a cynic I'd say that maybe the nonsense Cardiff speculation suited Jones.
Luckily, I'm not.52 -

Good news. Anyone else open this expecting another wind up headline?2

Bloody cynic, it's not all about money you know 😒.0

If Nathan Jones signs a new deal with CAFC, then the noise can disappear into the ether about the return of the prodigal son to the green, green, grass of home.
At least for 3 years or so depending on results !0 -
Big Bad Baz must be happy he’s finally got his confirmation.

And they will after one of our better players are linked with a move over the summer double window by person in bedroom or bona fide Journalist who needs to speculate and create football news.
TBF our better players should be sought after, that's why they need to be on a decent championship wage now with good win bonuses at Charlton.3 -
A few have said it already, but this really does suggest Jones is happy with the investment the owners have put forward for squad strengthening this summer. Great news all round I reckon16

I don't get that joke...🙄4

"Concerns are growing that by giving manager Nathan Jones a bumper new contract, Charlton may have blown all their transfer budget on their manager instead of much needed squad strengthening."ProperCharlton said:Great news. The bed wetters can find something else to worry about now.34 -
That’s got to sting as a Cardiff fan. The guy who said he’d walk there if he ever got offered the job just used them to get a better contract. God bless his agent26
-
And just to confirm betting is a mugs game he’s just gone evens in being the next Cardiff manager ( down from 3’s)9

I genuinely don’t think it ever got to the point of him being offered anything. I’ll buy into Cardiff making an approach to Charlton and even Charlton informing Jones but all this nonsense of the club demanding £1 million and then £5 million and Jones wanting to go but thwarted by Charlton is just pure fantasy.Smithy said:That’s got to sting as a Cardiff fan. I don't really understand the deal. His existing is to 2028 and the club needed him to sign another one. Wonder what it said on the original 2024 contract. '4 1/2 year deal unless you're crap, then it's pay per game!'
Glad he's committed to the long-term plan.
Didn't really doubt him, however football has a way of finding people to put on a peddlestall, then they bugger off and kiss somebody else's badge!0 -
It will be a pay rise and a rise in the compensation needed for someone to poach him. Now we're in the Championship and he's rebuilt some of his reputation there will be Director's of Football all over the Championship and lower end of the PL just keeping tabs on him, it's effectively a hands off warningThe Prince-e-Paul said:I don't really understand the deal. Either that or the majority of the terms stay the same, slight extension with the big factor being more pay.The Prince-e-Paul said:I don't really understand the deal. Six months ago the bloke was "dead man walking". Now we're all lauding the fact that he's signing a new contract. Never let it be said that fans (of all clubs) aren't the most fickle of individuals.24

But this is what a normal club would do. I am confused37
