This is good news and I am in no way suggesting otherwise. I do recall the last five-year contract offer made to a Charlton manager and what he said about that, though, so I wouldn’t take the term itself too literally.3

Sends out a very positive message to the players at the club deciding whether to sign (Small), players NJ wants to bring in and us the supporters (season tkt sales etc) and puts to bed(wetting) the Cardiff nonense. We can move fwd togther for what will be a tough season ahead in the championship, one i'm really excited about. Championship will mean Jimmy Seed packed, 18-20K Valley crowds (hopefully) and some cracking away grounds to visit. Who knows where it might lead, who would have thought a few yrs ago that Brentford & Bournemouth would become established Prem sides and Man Utd would be scrapping the bottom of the Prem barrel , "football bloody hell" as a well know scot said....Lets enjoy this moment3

Should've been 7 years. No commitment from Jones and the owners 😉
As someone who was concerned he might be tempted by Cardiff, I've changed the bedsheets now and I'm feeling much reassured. What a great sign this sends, making us all the more attractive to potential recruits, who now know the club have confidence their man can deliver, if they ever doubted it before.

Whilst I hope this is positive in terms of showing intent and hopefully he has signed based on belief and vision rather than a massive wedge.
Because all that happens is when it gets difficult , the club spend a fortune sacking him rather than backing him.
Good news, but would have preferred a player to make us stronger to go alongside it...5 -

It’s good news whatever way it’s looked at - of course we still don’t know the transfer budget and it’s not a definitive indicator of that but if he’d walked then we’d have had a pretty good idea it was insufficient to work with - it could still be but there’s a distinct possibility that it’s good - we shall see as the signings start rolling in0

The budgets key. Anything less than what Jones considered to be adequate and it’s hard to see him signing a longer contract. A promotion followed straight away by a relegation isn’t what’s needed on NJ’s recovering CV. I think he sees that a steady progression is actually the best way forward and I agree. Next season and probably the couple after will be all about consolidation. All being well the foundations will be in place to push further. That’s the journey I believe Jones sees himself being on.2

It must be something that Jones himself must see as acceptable at least as its not like his previous deal was about to run out. That's not to say I expect Birmingham levels of spending but I'm fairly sure we're not going to be running on loose change either.valleynick66 said:

Agreed but there is an outside chance that he said that we were likely to struggle and it will be damaging for him so they load up his terms and his compo to keep him - I don’t think that is the case and I think u r right but just as we couldn’t 100% rule out the Cardiff thing, there are always possible scenariosShootersHillGuru said:The budgets key.
