The state roads round my are in, on the Kent / Surrey border are so unbelievably bad. Genuinely can't believe this isn't a bigger issue.1 -
Probably been mentioned before but all the little shits at football games with the “can I have your shirt” signs.6

Admittedly time is running out but if I ever make it to the top level I will take great delight in giving my shirt to someone 2-3 seats along from any such sign.DaveMehmet said:Probably been mentioned before but all the little shits at football games with the “can I have your shirt” signs.6 -

Absolutely hated it when I went in one of their pubs. Made me feel like a criminal for looking at my phone. Don't they realise that sometimes phone content is what people are actually talking about, so it doesn't follow that phones necessarily kill conversation - sometimes they make it. Anyway, I notice that they didn't have any qualms about taking my money by phone, so I'm bunging the Sam Smiths company in the hypocrite bin. Worse than that, the overpriced hypocrite bin.Eastyorksaddick said:

Hate Sam Smith's pubs. Shite beer, overpriced and full of tossers. i haven't been to one for years due to those reasons and so always avoid them. Maybe it's changed but by the sounds of it it's probably the same.Stig said:

Also posted this on the Trent Alexander-Arnold thread:
I was fortunate to be out on Saturday night, so missed most of the England game.In the ten minutes or so that I did watch, the commentator didn’t once say “Alexander-Arnold”. He did, however, refer to him as “Trent” about 5 or 6 times.
I can’t explain why this gets my goat so much, but it really fucking does.3 -

You don't have to pay for a tv licence. Don't renew it next time round, if enough people do the same the licence would have to be abolished. I'm not sure if there could ever be enough funding put in place to take up the hole that would leave but I do know there would be plenty of very happy other foreign media companies wanting to fill in the voids left.orpingtonRED said:Probably mentioned lots of times but I'm saying it again as it pisses me off having to pay for a tv licence.
Rip off
Given a choice most people would prefer to keep the money in their pocket but thats probably true of many things we pay out for.1 -

You are aware that advertising revenues are down for ITV . C4 and C5 ?charltonkeston said:

Too simplistic to say scrap the licence fee but retain a national broadcaster or at least with some degree of commercial independence. If you don’t think there is a place for the ‘free to air’ channels you will see more outrage as more have to pay for subscriptions beyond the current levy of the TV licence. The model will evolve but to think you won’t need to pay is not realistic.3 -

Spend some time in the US and flick between news channels there and you will see that despite its many faults and issues, the BBC's impartiality is essential, perhaps moreso now than ever.MrOneLung said:

It needs to be funded, and so if not be a licence fee, then through general taxation. The latter comes with its own implications.6 -
I haven't worded that very well, maybe a bit early. But what I'm saying is, if you don't want to pay for something don't but don't expect it to be there in the future.Algarveaddick said:

I'm not bashing the BBC and agree with it being publicly financed. Its very common to see this anti BBC licence fee malarky and attached to it is normally the usual lefty bias BBC comment, which I also don't believe to be true. The BBC does have a commercial side, it sells around the world successfully.

Scrap the license fee. Pay for what you want and watch what you want.Fed up with the BBC programmes are so poor and repeated ad nauseam.Cooking programmes, Garden Programmes, Antiques Programme, Police procedural programmes.Never laugh at anything on the BBC.
Woke story lines, Sports department only interested in Man Utd.Pompous journalism. I could go on but my BP is going up!!1 -
The BBC's left wing bias is annoying, but the lack of commercials regulates the other channels. Like others have said, you only have to switch on American TV to see how bad it can be.2
-
ITV is privately owned. That means their reporting can be at the whim of those at the top of the organisation. Whilst it is generally reasonably impartial at the moment there is no guarantee it will remain so into the future. A national broadcaster is a must. Funding separate from general taxation is important to prevent political interference.MrOneLung said:

There used to be a semblance if credibility to this argument but now it's just laughable. Since Boris Johnsons overhaul of the board where he appointed 11 of the 14 who all have connections to the tory party either as major donors, as "arrangers" for senior tories or have held positions in the tory party. Similarly the Director General appointed by Boris is a tory donor. The political editor is a self proclaimed "Boris Johnsons Biggest Fan" and has a history of sharing interview questions in advance with those in the hard right of the tory party but refusing to do so for others whether in other parties or more traditional one nation Tories like David Gauke.cafcnick1992 said:The BBC's left wing bias is annoying, but the lack of commercials regulates the other channels. Given the above to still hold the view that the BBC is left wing says more about your politics than it does the bbc.
Reference point is key here. If your comparison is billionaire owned media in the UK or US then it will clearly appear to the left of those (that does not make it left wing, more reflects the ridiculous overton window in the UK). If you compare to the press in other countries outside of the UK/US bubble you will see much more balance.6 -
Surprised anyone in this country would argue for more privatisation! Let the BBC be.8
