  • Why are there two windows this time?

Loaning out Karoy is a laughable suggestion, key part of how we hold onto games and excellent off the bench, suspect he'd be in every matchday squad next year providing he stays fit
We won at Wembley btw and are now a Championship side up against the likes of Sheffield United, Leicester, Norwich, Ipswich etc. Not Stevenage, Leyton Orient, Northampton and whoever else.

There is nothing laughable about the suggestion of a loan of a 20 year old who wasn't part of our starting XI in the league below.

Edit: this post comes across a bit sassy sorry. Just trying to get across the difference in levels of competition and my concern is he wasn't standing out in a much weaker league.

But he was a big part of our first team squad.
You only have to look at Doughty's season for us last time in the Championship to see what a 20 year old can do in a higher league, and he hadn't played any first team minutes for us before then.

Karoy has a lot of experience compared so no reason why he can't be a great asset to our squad next season.
  • Not a chance Anderson gets loaned out , will be in the rotation with Doc and probably another experienced signing. Enslin,Fullah, DK I would expect to go late in the window to League 2/Top of the NL.

Wouldn't mind Crawley as a landing spot for Kanu actually. Will play good football under Lindsay and keeps him local ish.

I think that's the difference for me. Doughty was an unknown entity, I've seen plenty of Karoy, I don't see how much can change in a couple of months and going up a level. I'd agree if we didn't get promoted.

I don't mind Karoy being on the bench as he's an honest player and I like him, but I think at this stage a loan would be better for him, or I can see him having a similar career to Lapslie where he's just used to see games out and doesn't find his feet.

A full season at a club like a Burton or a Northampton etc would be more beneficial to himself and us imo.
  • I feel at lot will depend on how much NJ believes he can rely on the U21s such as Asiimwe, Zak, Enslin, etc can provide effective cover.

If he thinks, for example, Asiimwe has learnt enough from his time with Walsall to be back up then we only need one right back such as Offiah.

There is also the question of whether Miles will be fit in time. Either way I think we need at least one or more likely two more front players and another  CB such as Famewo.

That makes five signings including Carey by my count as a minimum.
I'd imagine that Ramsay would be the cover for Offiah (if he signs), and if OO is injured Ramsay just moves across with another centre back coming in. Asiimwe i think will be loaned out.

The problem we have in going up a division is that it probably makes it less likely for any of our kids to come in. Jones didn't fancy many of them at league one level so he's unlikely to risk them in the championship, and we also now (thank god) don't have the EFL trophy games to give them minutes, so at best i think Zak Mitchell will stay and i'd expect the likes of Asiimwe, Enslin, Mbick to be loaned out.
Only Leaburn and TC have any business in the matchday squad next season, the rest need loans.

Karoy could do with a full season loan under his belt for a League1 team, could argue the same for Kanu, or even League2, as long as they both play 40+ games. Would like to see Zak also get a loan for a decent league 1 side.

Loan the rest where we can, if they couldn't make an impression in League 1 under Jones, it can only get worse.
I think Mbick is being groomed as Chuks 2.0. Come on with 20 minutes to go, cause as much disruption as possible, and put the wind up defenders.

Is he going to be as good as Chuks in his prime? Of course not. But as a U21 he doesn't count towards salary caps, or whatever it's called in the Championship...

I think it’s to do with the club World Cup.   Teams competing have a chance to add new players before, then it’s paused during the competition.

    But I may be wrong.

Absolutely correct it's to allow clubs at the CWC to sign new players and then opens after most of it is done.

I can see a scenario in which he progresses like TC did and becomes a regular, though it partly depends on any other midfielders we bring in. I don’t think being in the Championship rules it out, as said a few pages back players develop at different rates.

Pratley looked better in the Championship than L1 because we had less of the ball, defending and winning it back was more important. I can see Anderson offering similar, and I don’t think it’s so much that he lacks technical ability for what we need, it’s more in his head, doing it more consistently etc.

I can also see the Lapslie comparison if he doesn’t keep improving, but Anderson has moments of showing he’s more technical, and I think physically he offers more than Lapslie, the potential is there to be so much more.
Good point about how defensive players can look better the higher they go. Another example was Jason Pearce who I thought didn't offer much in League1 but managed to win player of the month in the championship as he was up against it more rather than the odd mix up/lapse in concentration.

It's why I think big fuckers like Paudie to be paired with Lloyd would be an asset. We are gonna be the lowest possession based team probably, so you want your pure defenders who can rough up strikers.

This will be a matter of opinions anyway. If he ends up working out for us, fantastic, money saved. Right now I just don't see it.

He is a huge part of what we did in our run from Xmas onwards, whether that be in the starting 11 or the bench doesn't diminish his efforts or decide that he should be shipped out on loan back to league one

you've said in this thread and elsewhere we have a small budget in comparison, yet if we loan Anderson out more of that just goes on signing players for the bench which in my opinion is a waste of that budget, not replacing people who don't need replacing
  • I, like Braziliance, probably don't rate Anderson as high as some others.

But 100% he will not be going out on loan, nor does he need to. It would be completely wrong for his development.
  • Will our new CEO Dane change our transfer landscape of the players we now buy ? he signed 22 at Forest !!!

Weirdly can only see people say they've heard rumours but can't actually find the original source of them. Would be a Phil Chapple signing I'm sure

A good friend of mine is from Kaunas, Lithuania so this fella plays for his home town team. I’ll have to drop him a message.

He likes a left foot finish.
    Seems to have sniffer qualities.

That he needs to polish up his Lithuanian to get to the bottom of it

Full international already and seemingly if they were prepared to pay the compensation he'd have moved to Atalanta, so is clearly already on the radar of bigger clubs than us.
