Work is being done, a friend of mine posted on his fb yesterday about taking a break from pitch work with a photo of himself with the L1 trophy in the museum

No photos but four of the ground staff popped into the museum yesterday while there was some spraying going on.

@charltonnick had a long chat with them but I only caught the end of the conversation.  Far less work needed this summer as the plastic grass around which the real grass knits is in place and has been repaired and only a few inches of top soil removed rather than a couple of feet.

They felt it would be better and hardier this coming season.

    Nick might remember more.

If I remember, I'll take a pic next Friday from the NE Quad

It looked pretty awful and threadbare at the Junior Addicks pitch day last weekend... BUT...

The actual 2.5 hours were superb.  I did mean to post something here and forgot.  So well organised with different training and ball skills sessions, followed by a game and then each kid got to take a penalty in front of the North Stand (they all scored).  I have to say, sat watching my girl and nephew, I was very jealous !

There was then time for some photos before we left.  Well done the club.

When you think the cost of the annual membership was £35 and they had already been to 2 parties with the players signing stuff, done the family day, done a tour, got birthday and Xmas cards and waved flags on the pitch it is insanely good value...

Both are season ticket holders and their season tickets are free with me and my brother's ones!

Anyway, there is a phone by the pitch which looked like it should be in the museum!

How far along is it at this point, when did the work start?

Interesting they haven't started the work on the dugouts yet. With 9 subs on each team I'm sure we'll be looking to upgrade and expand them

How dare you ask me that! Google it yourself.🤣

Not sure but at least a week as per my post a few days ago.

Looks like top soil removed but as anyone who has seen my garden knows I know nothing about lawns.

Not heard that mentioned, not that that means it's not happening.
  • Not a problem, just put a couple of sofas out !
After all we do have history for it.

The dugouts need complete rebuilding,  but that would be a major exercise requiring existing season ticket holders to be moved, so that the dugouts are the same distance from the halfway line.

That’s what it was like at the semi final. A bit of the current sign has been removed to reveal a bit of the old sign beneath.

There's another one of those on the left at the bottom of Bartram the entrance stairs.

Even with little or no grass it still looks magnificent.

The phones are emergency phones for stewards to contact the safety officer / control room

Via the telephone exchange in Lee High Street, where an operator will connect you and reverse the charges.

Going to be some very disappointed fans by the looks of things. 🫤

I like that the away dugout is further from the half way line, little quirks that are beneficial to us, and these things are part and parcel of a proper ground, unlike these soul less bowls they build nowadays.
I hope they don't change the positioning.

I wonder just how much of the pitch is grass these days and how much is "plastic".

Someone, who may or may not have been me (depending on who's asking, officer), took a couple of pinches of "turf" from the pitch at the end of the Wycombe game. Some of that has now dried out and turned to a straw like colour, as you would expect, but the majority of it (i'd say about 90%) is still as green and "lush" as the day it was plucked.

could we not just move the away dugout further along the pitch to under the police control unit, it would free up valuable West Stand seating, allow Jonesey free range to run about and keep all the stink just up the one end.
