Summer 2025 Charlton Athletic Transfer Rumours

  • If Charlton have made a £1.3 million bid then I’d expect them to know that it would be rejected and have another figure that they’d be prepared to pay as a second bid. My gut feeling is that Orient really won’t let him go for anything less than very close to £2 million. With other clubs also sniffing I think this one will not only drag on well into the window but ultimately be one we couldn’t get across the line.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Orient leaked this to try and give other champ teams a nudge and get a bidding war going
With 1 year left on his contract,  he'll be off this summer. Orient can't afford to lose him for peanuts next summer.

For me signing Galbratih would reinforce the idea we will play differently to how we did in L1. Would expect him to invert in possession and see one of the strikers drift right while Carey would drift left to create width. Doc/replacement would push forward and Cov and Galbraith would sit and pack the midfield for any counters
Invert in possession. I guess that means drop inside instead of going wide.
Suggests a 3-4-3 with the front 3 all shifting over 1, or are you saying 4-4-2?

Yes would mean coming inside and into midfield. I'm banking on us staying in 352 out of possession. You then end up in possession with a sort of lopsided 4231

Galbraith and Coventry shielding a back four of Ramsay, Jones, Gillesphey and Edwards would be an excellent start.

Jones building from the back once again.

In a 4231 or a 433? We could even go for a diamond midfield again with Coventry holding, Docherty and Galbraith, Carey as the 10, 2 up top? In possession Coventry drops to the QB role between the defenders and the full backs can push on and turn it into a 3412

352 out of possession but 4321 in possession is my guess, that is only if we get Galbraith/a similar type to play RWB
  • Kone was't good against us and he obviously had a dip in form but he's 21 years old, just scored 18 goals in L1 and did that in his first full Football League season. The main thing I took away watching him against us was he looked raw. West Ham will be looking at the leap he's made in output after just 18 months spent training with a L1 side and feeling like they can get a hell of a lot more out of him with better coaching. Ipswich signed Liam Delap for £20m after he'd scored 8 Championship goals in a season and then sold him on for £30m just a year later. £15m isn't a huge amount for a Premier League team but if Kone lives up to his potential West Ham could double their money so they'll be viewing it as a gamble worth making
Even so there's no way he's worth 15m!

You can't really compare the two. Delap had been at Man City, had played for England at all age groups and had a season in the championship. There's no chance Kone is worth almost as much as he went for.
If there's one player who's inflating this fee my money's on Ivan Toney.
  • I think we may go into a 442 in possession then into a 352 out of possession and a 721 when hanging onto a lead transitioning into a 118 when 4-0 nil up then back to a diamond with a double pivot.

I don’t see Jones putting Galbraith in that role. He will want more physicality from Coventry’s partner

I think he will play wing back if we sign him, but move from there into midfield to overload the midfield. Can give him a lot of freedom to roam with Ramsay able to push on into the space on the right

I would not let Charlton buy our player unless the fee was tripled.Cannot forget the vile chanting at Wembley. Not the place for that.Mock yes, swear no.

I would have thought that Ethan needs to go to a team that tries to play football, not the agricultural stuff that Charlton play.
Vile chanting? What were we chanting about? I can’t remember anything even remotely poor let alone vile.
What about the racist shit and abuse of Nathan at their dump

Can't see Orient wanting this to drag on. They need the money to start getting in replacements for the deluge if loans that have just walked out the door.
Their war chest will also play a big part in Wellens staying or going imo.

No. This one won't take too long imo

Kone off to West Ham I think.  £15m apparently.

    Utter lunacy
Might be the only one who likes the look of Kone, young but does all the basic things great and is only going to improve. Kind of reminds me of Lyle Taylor - a nightmare to defend against. Not surprised a prem team have taken a punt on him.

They’ve got new owners that will be willing to invest, Wellens is rumoured to be about to sign a new contract. They will drag this out until they get the best deal possible

Your support is fucking shit ? Which of course it was so if they had contributed to the atmosphere instead of sitting on their hands maybe that "vile" chant wouldn't have been necessary.  B)
