  • Dodgy account but an excellent player. Unsure if the Carey signing means going after someone like DKD is off the table now?

I think DKD pretty much plays as a striker for Barnsley. Think he would come in to the TC role if he played for us, especially being up a level in the championship, you don’t want him having to do too much defending

That would make more sense than him as an out and out 10 where I don't know if he's got the defensive side of the game.

Signing him as a striker would be a pretty interesting and versatile option to give us , be interesting to see what kind of price tag Barnsley have slapped on him , would suspect it's pretty high after the season he had.
  • That's the twitter account not worth quoting though...just makes.up shite.

Genuinely excited by this if we pull it off thought he was the standout player at Wembley

Galbraith was the player I picked out from that final as the player I would like to see playing for CAFC in 25/26.

Kelman as he's 10 years younger than 'Godden again' would be interesting but he's a QPR player who scores which would run into multi millions.
  • Really good rumour and would be one of, if not our best player Galbraith.

Orient obviously leaking it hoping to start a bidding war, but hopefully we come back with a better offer. Swansea are very interested and been knocked back before, looks like they'd be the main competition.

He was the best player at Wembley, would be bloody lovely if we could get him.

Can’t see it happening with Barnsley in a position to demand absolute millions and they don’t often sell their best players for cheap. We’re clearly willing to spend since the Galbraith bids come out but I’m not sure Jones thinks DKD would be the best use of the budget. Already have 2 CAM’s in Carey and Berry so have depth there and up top he’s very similar to what we have in terms of Godden TC Kanu etc. if we’re going to bring in a striker surely it would be a target man as our only options are Ahadme who less said about the better and Leaburn who despite his build can’t do that Paticular role well. Would be shocked if we don’t start the season with a Carlton Morris kind of player up top

  • Look how good he was even at 19:

I think it's gonna cost around £2 million to get him. Probably one of the most sought after players from League 1 this summer.

Don't believe it for a second. If Orient want up to 2m for Galbraith, then Barnsley would be asking for at least double that for him.

Sheffield United supposedly one of the other Championship sides interested. If that’s the case, we’ve just been used to smoke them out and can probably forget any chance of landing him.
These type of deals are not out of our reach…it’s about the overall deal an add-ons for championship clubs purchasing players from leagues below become much more attractive.  For example Harrison Burrows who went to Sheffield United the initial fee was around 2 million though with add-ons in appearances in the premiership, internationals and sell on percentages the deal for Peterborough is worth around 6 million.  Borrows stepped up and was one of the top performers in the championship last season so it can happen and Charlton are very appealing to agents and players.  Look at the crop of players we have sold on.

Just depends how interested they actually are. We allegedly fended off Stoke and Sheffield United for Charlie Kirk a few years ago for a 500k fee (wish we hadn't).

Can see this being drawn out a bit in the hope other Championship clubs take notice of his valuation.
  • Wilder close to the exit door at Sheff utd. Might buy us a bit of time
Yeah can't see Sheffield United being genuine contenders until they have their managerial situation sussed out.
  • the fact that he could stay put in london might help with him coming to us.. brings his pals Kelman and Donley too

  • Unless QPR get offered silly money, they'd be fools to sell Kelman after the season he's just had

Orient fans really don't like us anymore do they.
I'd give them Ahadme in exchange and really piss them off.

If we have offered 1.3 million and Orient have turned it down we should raise it to 1.5 million plus Ahadme.
Kelman's back at QPR so they need another striker.
    🤨
yeah but they want to score

He has 1 year left on his contract and he probably won't sign a new one without some kind of assurance on his playing time. So they're either going to have to play him so he signs a new deal or sell now because otherwise he'll either be worth a lot less in January or even worse for them, he'll see out his contract and leave for free.

I saw Ricky Jade Jones had angered Darragh MacAnthony by signing on a free for St Pauli - meaning Peterborough don’t get a big fee (like when Aribo went to Rangers as it’s overseas).

I think his financial issues are starting to hit home now
Players and clubs have worked him out and decided it's worth waiting the extra year. Ultimately unless you get a big injury your development is unlikely to be harmed by one more year of regular L1 football and you can get a much higher wage/cheaper player at the end of the season

Karma for when he sidled with that bald fraud over us apparently trying to sign players
Ah yes, his dinner friend who he later claimed was never his friend!

Kone was't good against us and he obviously had a dip in form but he's 21 years old, just scored 18 goals in L1 and did that in his first full Football League season. The main thing I took away watching him against us was he looked raw. West Ham will be looking at the leap he's made in output after just 18 months spent training with a L1 side and feeling like they can get a hell of a lot more out of him with better coaching. Ipswich signed Liam Delap for £20m after he'd scored 8 Championship goals in a season and then sold him on for £30m just a year later. £15m isn't a huge amount for a Premier League team but if Kone lives up to his potential West Ham could double their money so they'll be viewing it as a gamble worth making
Even so there's no way he's worth 15m!

You can't really compare the two. Delap had been at Man City, had played for England at all youth age groups and had a season in the championship. There's no chance Kone is worth almost as much as he went for.
But I think that's exactly what West Ham will be looking at; a player with absolutely no academy training, no international youth squads who was playing in the Essex Senior League just one season ago managed to get 18 L1 goals in his first full season aged 21. They will be thinking that if he can do that while basically being a park footballer as recently as 23/24 then with a bit of proper coaching the sky's the limit for him. There's no way it'll be £15m flat either, it will almost certainly be incentive based and likely tied to goals, appearances, possibly international caps. If he's a washout then West Ham won't pay anything approaching £15m.
  • I don’t think the fee will be that high…it’ll be made up more of add-ons and sale on fees otherwise no clubs in the championship can sustain the financial output - it’s exactly what Sheffield United did when they purchased Harrison Burrows from Peterborough and they have the parachute payments from the prem.
