  • Looks like the club are in talks with the Manager to part ways now
Seems weird to do this now and not at the end of the season. Unless some players are now walking out over the non-payment of wages and he's just had enough.

Does it mean Chris Powell will be in temporary charge?

Would be very on brand for SCP to manage a club in crisis, seems to follow him around poor bloke

Just as all the championship jobs are filled I believe now with QPR being the last? Anyone that makes a bad start of the playoff contenders I would guess will be straight after Rohl and SCP.
Have to wonder how long van Nistelrooy will last at Leicester
Think they're a mess. Since Vichais death they seem to have got every major appointment wrong and there's a lot of rumours that the owners aren't as wealthy as they were, there's also some PSR stuff hanging over them.

Don't think RvN will make the start of the season , over on Reddit their fans are convinced it will be Dyche.
Owners definitely have money issues. There main company, King Power, have a lot of problems, mainly they are close to losing contract for duty free shops in Thailand airports, which is one of there biggest generators of money.

Oh that would severely affect Leicester if the owners who made most of their fortune from the duty free shops contract suddenly lost it.

What you don’t want is for us to win points against them, and to have those points wiped off if they go bust.
Teams as big as Sheff Weds generally don’t go bust I can’t see it. Maybe a series of points deductions similar to Luton is a more likely outcome or administration.

I might be looking at this simplistically, but if they can’t find enough first teamers, would they not just fill the first team squad with youth players?

    Complete mess of a situation

never been the biggest fan of them as a club in recent years, but would hate to see this play out for us, and their fans deserve much better
They can sign free transfers and players on loan, they would just need EFL approval first.
Yes, but in terms of not paying their current players, if they had an exodus, I presume it would just be a bunch of youth players that get named in their squad

Players need to be mad enough to sign though
And accept a maximum of 7k pw wasn’t it?

Supposedly, doesn’t get you very far in the Championship these days. Wouldn’t write them off though, look at how Reading managed to pull through the last few seasons

So all Wednesday just need to do is get relegated to L1 then…

Apparently the youth cannot be trusted as they spend all their time in the York Railway museum, it’s only 43 miles away

And 45 miles from Bramall Lane.

I would imagine Powell will follow Rohl should he get another job in England.
I cannot see Powell working for another nutter as a Manager.
  • Statement today from Chansiri - https://www.swfc.co.uk/news/2025/june/26/club-update-from-the-chairman/

So in short, he says he's been messed around, there's no deal in place, and he was looking for some kind of deposit that he'd then use to pay outstanding salaries. Still a total mess.

On the plus side for their fans, he seems to be showing a willingness to sell and he has a price in mind.

He’s deluded. Who is going to make a deposit that’s needed to be spent just to pay wages unless a deal is all but done and just needing ratification. Refundable ? Not likely if it’s already spent.

Powell is out of contract very soon, as are a lot of Rohl’s staff. That’s why he wants out

I believe Powell also said at the Charlton event last season that he’s happy being an assistant and has no desire to be a manager again

This is great news for us, at the moment Sheffield Wednesday look like being nailed on for one of the bottom 3

Leicester can’t afford to sack RVN and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a points deduction for them this season
They are definitely getting a points deduction I think. They are waiting until July to sack RVN so it falls under this seasons financials rather than last
  • I do hope our old mate Barry Bannan is still getting paid.

    No he doesn't, they're both cnuts  :o
Possibly but at least Duchatelet paid the bills on time and we were never close to financial peril.

He also spent a few quid, but we know the rest of the story.
He also gave us Meire who was an absolute blast at times.

Sounds very much like our very own ESI....versions 1 AND 2.  Version 1 couldn't show source & sustainability of funds (hence why we were under a transfer embargo) and Version 2 (to this day) say that they "advanced" the club £500k to keep us afloat.

At least Chansiri has gone public & said it how it is (from his perspective of course).

Duchatelet shrank our fan base massively then held on to the stadium and training ground whilst selling is for a quid to buyers he knew were wrong'uns.  He remains our main threat even now.  No better than Chansiri.
I don't agree Duchatelet shrank our fan base, not significantly enough anyway. Our attendances plummeted shortly after we left the prem, and never got close again.

That is the nature of football, had we got promoted under Duchatelet when he first joined, the Valley would have been at capacity every week.

I still remember reading when he goes people will be back and it just never happened. The only way we will get the Valley full again consistently is if we are a prem team or if it's a big occasion we see people turn up.

I don't like the bloke, but I don't entirely blame him for our dwindling attendances.

It’s our only ‘insurance policy’ against unsuitable owners. Imagine where we’d be if Southall and his cronies had also acquired the ground and training ground when they bought the club.

The current ownership seem to be doing all the right things, this transfer window will give us a bit more insight along those lines, but the real test of it will be if they put up the cash to buy the Valley and Sparrows Lane
