Swansea were after Galbraith in January so may be some substances to that. Would be frustrating if we missed out by not paying that bit more that was needed.
I think Galbraith would better value at £2M than Tanto would be at £1.5M
Probably would be, but Tanto wants to sign for us, Galbraith will be holding out for a team higher up the championship food chain.
If we do sign him, it will be later in the window I’d imagine, after he’s waited to see if he gets offers from other championship clubs
Not that keen on Reece Burke, I will add the reviews by Luton fans as spoilers for those who don't go on twitter, but the general consensus is that he is good but far too injury prone.
I was hoping the Luton defender/ now ex-Luton would be Bell who is good, consistently plays and is championship standard.
Doesn’t seem to be a rush of clubs in for Galbraith at present but I’m willing to bet there are quite a few closely monitoring the situation and should their current targets not materialise he could well end up on a clubs wanted list. Orient know this, his agent knows this and Galbraith knows this. It’s always a gamble holding out for something better that might not happen but I think the Galbraith saga will drag on until very close to the end of the window. Even January for the player although Orient won’t want that.
The fitness team that we have at the club now might make him worth the gamble. I don't think they would sign him if they thought they couldn't manage his fitness properly.

He is on about 10-12 grand a week at Luton. We are going to have a small squad and that just seems a waste when we could sign someone younger and more promising with that kind of expenditure.
Will Abbot isn't Desmond Doss ffs, only so much you can do 😂
Either way all this is chatter anyway as it will be Jones call and we don't know it is him, I just think if we are gonna spend a decent wage on a left sided defender, Bell seems a safer bet.

Not saying he’s a miracle worker but he got Aneke, one of the most injury prone players in the country through the season with only 1 injury. Obviously we would want Burke available for more than 30 mins a game but we also had quick returns from injury for Ramsay, Watson and Jones and the majority of the squad were injury free. I would back him to at least improve Burke’s availability
Very disappointing if he signs there. Going for a very fair/cheap price and improves us. Can't say we weren't interested either as we bid
Unless I missed it that FLW doesn’t mention price other than our bid and the Hudds one at £2.5m which I’d say is the upper limit of what he’s worth I think
Worth every penny, he's class and Jones must want him. I think he would fit like a glove here, just have a feeling. He just offers something we lack similar to Tanto, that's invaluable.

I think it’s more the fact Galbraith thinks he can do better than us
To be fair, we don't know that. The fact he signed for Orient in the first place and has consistently played shows he probably doesn't have an attitude.
I would say it's more so Swansea have a bit more breathing room than us and have upped their offer.
If that is the case, I'd like to see us match them at least. It would be very difficult to find a player with his qualities that can also play about 4 different roles and only being 24. Players like this are proper upgrades and affordable. Would be nice to see.
Article has zero mention of Swansea upping their offer. It's just a fluff piece put out by a party with a motive to drive a bidding war.
It is speculation. Jay speculated it is the players attitude towards us why he may not sign, I have then speculated if he does go to Swansea, it will be probably be a financial issue or decision as we have shown confirmed interest.
I listen to FLW a bit more considering they have had a few scoops this window.
Godden and Berry were injury prone before coming to us and they didn’t spend much time out this season at all. In terms of Burke you keep him fit you have a top level Cb and that quality is something we will desperately need this season. Big gamble but you would argue he would be playing much higher up if he didn’t have his injury issues. If we make sure to have a good quality backup I’m all for taking the risk because if you do keep these type of players fit they can be the difference between relegation and survival
The fitness team that we have at the club now might make him worth the gamble. I don't think they would sign him if they thought they couldn't manage his fitness properly.
Simple. Sign him up. If Abbott cannot keep him fit, sack both of them.
Pretty sure Football League World reported Carey was signing for Derby on the same day he signed for us?
Latest from FLW:
Alfie May’s future could be outside of Birmingham City – Charlton Athletic should capitalise
That's a bit different though. That is genuinely click bait knowing it will create a conversation.
Everytime they've done the cliché "Understand x has signed for x" or the 🚨🚨 it has been right.
"Plymouth are in talks"
Doesn't say "Hardie is definitely staying put at Plymouth and has signed a new deal".
Feel free to show me otherwise where they have got a confirmation wrong. Unless you're just trying to be funny? If so, fair enough.
It is the transfer rumours thread, they have been one of the better sources this summer for the rumours. All there is to it.
Less than 48 hours later…
Sky Sports PeteO who is a very credible journalist said Derby were in 'advanced talks' with Carey and we signed him. That may have been true, we may have just offered Carey a more favourable deal. Doesn't make PeteO clickbait.
There is a big difference in confirming a signing or saying a singing is imminent or a statement of that nature to, "Sources tell us x club is in talks with x player" and they sign elsewhere.
If you can find me a post from the last few months where they have done similar to my second paragraph, and they haven't signed, fair enough.
I promise I don't actually work for these lot or associated in anyway, ffs.
Shareholder of another league club here at Glasto when I told them I was a CAFC fan he told me we are currently negotiating for their GK and CH. Both have had lots of Championship and some Prem league experience. Very good standard. Can’t say more because I show my face on the button and don’t want to blow cover as the shareholder I refer to knows me through business…
Now the keeper is over the line, 🤞 for Burke who looks an experienced defender at Champ level. Intel was sound. ITK for once…and only time probably.
Welcome Gripper Burke. Burke, real name Bernard Bresslaw, is a no nonsense centre back who made his name as partner to fellow centre Back Sid James in the famous Carry On side of the 1970s
I'm not sure Swansea are in for him. I know they bid in January, but they have a new manager now. They've also spent a lot of money already.
I think we may get him in the dying days of August.
Too late. Season's started by then. If a player uhms & aghs and cant make up his mind I don't want him. Only committed players please.
The player isn’t mucking us about. The issue is Orient won’t accept our bid. Don’t believe things have ever progressed to the stage of talking to the player.
My West Ham mate who knows someone in the club says that there looking at loaning out a good few players, lots of youth too, supposedly CM Andy Irving is proper decent. No substance to any rumour at all but just a bit of info
That would make a lot of sense as non of our youth team bar TC, Leaburn and Anderson have enough experience to be part of what will probably be a struggling Championship squad (possibly Zak Mitchell but we have not seen much of him). One of the few downsides of promotion is that fewer of the youth team will come through into the first team, not for a few years at least.
**Exclusive** is a standard red-top journalist BS tactic to make them seem better connected and informed, knowing most of their readers won't be checking to see if anyone else actually reported it. It worked somewhat in the days of print media but is surely too easily exposed these days with all the free online sources available and just makes them look dishonest (if the cap fits...). In the old days, it wasn't unusual to see the S*n, the Star, and the Mirror (plus often the Mail and the Express) all print exactly the same news on the same day and all claiming **Exclusive** in their headline. But since when has British tabloid journalism ever cared about integrity?
Deals are done when they're done. Players remain available until they are not. A pause in negotiations doesn't mean all interest has ceased should the terms of a deal either party will consider become more agreeable. Just because Roland was a cheap son of a bitch doesn't mean we have no money to spend now. Being "interested" in a player, in transfer rumours terms, could range from anywhere between "we agreed to watch a video their agent sent us but declined to go any further than that" to "Nathan Jones is round their house making cups of tea and trying to sweet talk the player's wife into moving to London rather than Derby".
I know the speculation and rumours are fun for some people and they're a very weak methadone for the opioids of the football season, but you have to accept that 95% of the rumours will be paper thin in substance or just plain made up. Of the 5% with something to them, 80% we won't sign because either they weren't our preferred choice, or we lost out to another club for one reason or another. Of the players we do manage to sign, 50% of them we'll get no hint about until a day or two before they sign. It's always been the same. If you don't like, stop clicking on the links or reading the tweets because every interaction you have with them helps feed the monster.
We'll end up with the players we were meant to get - i.e. ones who 1) are affordable for our budget (for which all indications are our budget is not large but it is in line with normal Championship range and realistic for building a Championship capable squad) 2) Nathan Jones wants, and 3) want to sign for us for a wage that we can afford. Reality is, if they don't check all three of those boxes, we shouldn't want them anyway.
Whether or not the players we sign turn out to be good enough - well... finding that out is one of the fun things about the new season, and why we all love a new signing.
In the meantime, stay informed but chill out and remember WIOTOS When it's on Richard Cawley's Substack the night before it's on the Official Site (WIORCSTNBIOTOS).

In other news, Plymouth after Brendan Wiredu.

I would have liked to see him back here still. Only 25 and played a lot of football. Good option on the bench with his versatility.
