Pretty sure Football League World reported Carey was signing for Derby on the same day he signed for us?
    Latest from FLW:

Alfie May’s future could be outside of Birmingham City – Charlton Athletic should capitalise

That's a bit different though. That is genuinely click bait knowing it will create a conversation.

Everytime they've done the cliché "Understand x has signed for x" or the 🚨🚨 it has been right.
But them writing that does not make it their “exclusive”.
All of those accounts do that though, it is just for the impact of the tweet.

In other news, Plymouth after Brendan Wiredu.

"EXCLUSIVE: Plymouth in advanced talks over deal for in-demand Fleetwood star Brendan Wiredu"

I would have liked to see him back here still. Only 25 and played a lot of football. Good option on the bench with his versatility.

You say only 25 but never played in The Championship and if it's another league one team in for him being Plymouth then he's potentially there for another 2-3 years. If he was Championship standard then Championship teams would come in for him, and not us thankfully, we need players to come and get into the first team, not warm the bench no point signing players to do that when we need to improve on all places in the team, some more than others.
I don't always believe players are playing at their right level though. I've always said there will be players in the champ who are closer to League2 quality, and there will be players in league2 who will have the skill of a championship player but will be playing down there for whatever reason.

It's like if we start this season with this squad, respectfully some of these lads ain't champ quality players (Looking at the bench mainly) but may get gametime. There will be players who are far superior in the leagues below, who haven't had a crack at this league (Keillor-Dunn as an example). It's not just as simple as saying "if he was good he would be at this level" etc. Lyle Taylor didn't really get near the Champ till he came to us, one good season and Brentford, Leeds, Forest, Bristol City, Derby and Birmingham all wanted him.

I think he would be a decent option as he will be relatively cheap, he is versatile and could still improve.

I would rather him than any player with a bad injury record.

Reckon it’ll be the first in the new home kit rather than a new kit, Reebok are obviously putting effort into the announcements for it

Fair points there, I guess my main point was more that I feel any signing we make has to be good enough to step straight into the first team rather than players to warm the bench. Wiredu may have some potential but think at the moment we need Championship ready rather than Championship potential.

    It's Tanto Time

Charlton Athletic are delighted to confirm the permanent signing of striker Tanto Olaofe from Stockport County for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old was a crucial part of the Stockport side that finished third in Sky Bet League One last season, scoring 12 goals and registering four assists. Prior to that he netted 21 goals in County’s promotion-winning 2023/24 campaign.

Olaofe, who has signed a three-year contract with a club option of an additional year, becomes the Addicks' third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Sonny Carey and Thomas Kaminski.

After putting pen to paper, the forward said: "It's a great feeling. There's a great atmosphere at The Valley so I'm looking forward to playing there. Hopefully I can help elevate the team in the right direction because the current trajectory is a very good one."

Manager Nathan Jones added: "We’re really happy to sign Tanto. He fits everything we want to do here in terms of his profile - he’s young, hungry, athletic and he wants to play at the next level. He’s one that will continue to get better. He’s had a real good time at Stockport and we felt it was the right time to bring him in. He’s someone we’re really excited about."

The Lewisham-born striker joined Millwall at the age of 14 and made his professional debut in the first of three successful loan spells at Sutton United, where he lifted the National League title after netting 16 goals during their promotion season. He also enjoyed a temporary switch to Scottish side St Johnstone and featured three times for Millwall's first-team before joining Stockport in 2023.

That's a bit posh for an ex-Millwall player.  No wonder he didn't fit in there.
