"Hopefully I can help elevate the team in the right direction because the current trajectory is a very good one."
That's a bit posh for an ex-Millwall player. No wonder he didn't fit in there.
from Wikipedia .. 'Olaofe attended Wilmington Grammar School. While at Millwall, Olaofe was also studying for a Business Management degree at the Open University.[55] His nickname "Tanto" is an abbreviated form of his middle name.[56]'
Very disappointing if he signs there. Going for a very fair/cheap price and improves us. Can't say we weren't interested either as we bid
Unless I missed it that FLW doesn’t mention price other than our bid and the Hudds one at £2.5m which I’d say is the upper limit of what he’s worth I think
Galbraith: Hudds didn't bid £2.5m. That was just click bait exagération.
It was more realistically reported though that they'd had a bid of £1.5m refused, topping Charlton's earlier bid of £1.3m.
Sounds more likely to me.
And Orient holding out for 2 million
I think that's probably nearer the truth.
Galbraith is contracted to Orient - and they call the shots at the fee they're willing to accept.
It' s perhaps a game of bluff though. There may come a time during this window when they'll be prepared to accept a lower offer?
What’s the thinking then, still to come: Tanto Olaofe today Famewo Burke Offiah Galbraith
Would be good. I do think we need some cover for TC. And potentially we’re still a bit light up front with Miles out.
Olaofe is surely cover for TC, he is a wide player not a centre forward
Interestingly if you read some of Stockport fan comments, they are laughing that we think he can play as a winger, they think he is better suited down the middle. In fairness, when we played them at their place, he was mainly on the left causing Ramsey problems, so agreed he is defo competition for TC but a different player.
He won't be played as a touchline hugging traditional winger though, will he?
Think NJ's typical gameplan
Olaofe will be there to drive through the channels and drift wide when occasion demands.
Right-Back (Ramsey can be cover, so probably only 1 needed).
Left-Back cover
Left Centre Back
Holding Midfielder
Winger/Attacking Midfielder
Offiah Bell Famewo Ethan Galbraith (more as an 8, I see Coventry as the hold) Keillor-Dunn
We could stay up with those additions imo, and it would only cost between 6-7 million in transfer fees, wages wouldn't be absurd either. Would match what Pompey and Oxford did which should be our minimum target.
If we are feeling really ambitious go and test QPR for Charlie Kelman, perfect player to compete with and learn from Godden.
Phil Chapple and NJ have done well so far. Tanto and Carey are punts* in a way but Kaminski is a proven Championship player.
* Punts only in the fact you can never be certain with the step up and coming into a new team after both played in the 3rd tier last season just like the rest of our successful Wembley winning team.
Comments
Doucher was showing him the sights of Thamesmead and the Medway towns but he seems to have gone AWOL.
Edit* I posted when pages behind so 👏🏼to Doucher for being ITK and convincing Tanto, Chiselhurst is a great place to live 👍🏼

Maybe competition for Doc too?

I think he has it all for this level, movement, he's fast, he's fairly strong, can score a range of goals.
As Sam said though, the likes of West Brom are after him, probably be unlikely.
They were in for him in January and will be able to offer much higher wages than us.
