Does the grunting stop the opponent hearing the sound of the racquet on the ball?
    Typical ruski tactics.
    Belaruski!

Wow that was hard. Rad just managed it. 7 set points saved.

Think the crowd might be a bit biased.
Rightly so, and we should be booing the noisy bird too

Poor service game by rads. Too easy to hit the return.

A shame Emma is meeting Sabalenka so early.  This feels like a match which should be well into the second week.

Regardless of result this is the tennis we all know Raducanu is capable of, so happy she’s performing to this level again

Emma loses set 1 on a tiebreak 8-6. Hard one to swallow after having a set point as well.

Well, old grunt face wins the first set. Rad needs to sort out her service and try to negotiate the ruski from Belarussia urgency to go to the net.

Radicanu doesn’t seem to chase down drop shots, wonder if it’s because of past injuries.

Yeah, noticed that she doesn't even try to get to them. Last one she did she fell over trying to reach it.

Like she’s trying to negate certain movements.

whats with all the emergency restrings by players?

Think the strings is because of the roof, it changes the humidity. Notable that both players are using the same racket so possible that they’re experiencing the same issue with losing tension

It’s odd, can have a bag full of different tensions, strange why they both need something different to what they have on the spot, roof seems the obvious reason

Alcaraz match went longer than anyone expected so doubt they were prepared for playing with the roof closed. Humidity doesn’t just change how the strings react but the amount of moisture in the ball and on the courts too

Emma has broken for a lead three times now but has not been able to hold onto it the first two times. And now it’s 0-30 again

Awesome Emma - wins four points in a row from 0-30 to consolidate the break.

Brutal serving and hitting by Sabalenka to prevent a double break.
