I’m watching the Kartal match; she’s going well so far, but there’s an idiot in the crowd making a kind of “hooray” cheer after every point Kartal wins; really annoying, and I think he might have been there for her 1st round match too!

Boulter beats no 9 seed Badosa - battling performance.
But she's going to have to cut out the massive wobbles in her form if she's going to progress
Fine first set then stopped doing all the things she'd done well and couldn't get a first serve.  Confidence evaporates in a heartbeat, weird.
Final set was evenly matched until Badosa's level just dropped enough at the critical moment and the match was gone

Kartal through in straight sets - won comfortably. Interesting to see how she would fare against Boulter and Raducanu.

Didn't she lose in 3 sets to Boulter recently?

You're right - she lost to her at Nottingham.

Not a tennis fan but enjoyed the three day story of Oliver Tarvet. Looks like he’s got a big future.

Tarvet beaten in straight sets by Alcaraz. Harris beaten in straight sets by Borges.

Norrie wins in 4 sets against 12th seed Tiafoe.

Boulter looking likely to go three sets.

what on earth happened? She did well to get back in the 1st set to take it to a tie breaker and to win it. Then it all went wrong

Boulter sadly is prone to collapses like the Kent batting line up.

Fabulous display by Raducanu- best I've seen her play at Wimbledon. Vondrousova is a former Wimbledon champion and recently won at Berlin beating Sabalenka on the way.

That Raducana match has made me feel better about women's tennis.
Far superior than that Boulter game I watched (who unsurprisingly is now out).

Think I prefer women’s tennis. Because the serve isn’t as strong there’s more rally’s.

like i say tho, I’m not a huge tennis fan, so that might not even be correct stats wise.

The Boulter match was similar to the Gauff match last night - they both lost confidence in their serve and it was painful to watch. Raducanu just oozed confidence this evening...

Quite a few players have said that the courts are playing really slow this year. Not sure if that's down to the grass, the balls, the heat, or a combination of everything, but if that's the case then we'll see more rallies.

Hot air is thinner, so the ball will travel faster. However, I believe they keep the balls in the fridge so they are harder and therefore travel faster off the racket. As they get hotter, they get softer so leave racket slower and bounce less.

As soon as anyone talks about playing on grass I always remember the OFAH scene with Hot Rod getting measured up for a new bat and being asked if he prefers grass or astroturf!

    Raducanu was quality last night.
Why is Vondourusa so low in rankings? Has she been injured?

I honestly feel Boulter has not recovered from losing to Harriet Dart the other yearat Wimbledon, when she was well ahead and her opponent was crying on court.
She does seem to crumble easily

She had shoulder surgery which put her out of action for a time.

Fery, Evans and Pinnington-Jones all out in straight sets. Evans was never in the game with Djokovic.

I really wish they couldn't abort a serve.

If you throw the ball up wonky, then so be it

Cilic takes an age to serve. Up to 15 bounces so far...
