Was able to watch properly kartal at lunch. she looked very good against a seeded player.
Got Fery on in the background against what I know of him a decent player in Popyrin. Fery close to breaking the Aussies serve but he's just hanging on.

4 all in the 4th set.
  • Fery wins!
  • Fery with the win. 3 sets to 1. have some of that you lanky Aussie.
  • Oh and Norrie has won an all
  • Some game this between Fognini and Alcaraz
  • Oh and Norrie has won an all
Now that is a pleasant surprise!
Cam's been in rotten form and for the 2nd set against RBA he was relentlessly hitting the ball straight back up the middle until RBA found a passing shot.
He can thank me for the meeting that took me away from his match and shifted his fortunes. 😁
  • Break point for fognini against Alcatraz.
  • Break point for fognini against Alcatraz.
But fognini has just blown it by losing his serve.
  • Alcaraz has just stepped up a gear, probably because my autotype called him Alcatraz.
  • Fearnley loses to Fonseca, no shame in defeat here. Good third set though

Fognini has had 16 break points and only converted 3 of them.
He could easily be a set up rather than a set down if only he had played the big points better.
  • Played for Kent U16, got a scholarship to David Lloyd Academy, stopped playing when I discovered music. Had to deal with the LTA at times who were elitist gatekeepers as I wasn’t from a wealthy background (understand they’re better now)
  • Henry Searle 1-1 in sets with the American Ethan Quinn. Billy Harris 2 sets and a break up on Dusan Lajovic.

Earlier Hannah Klugman was beaten in straight sets by Leylah Fernandez.

Harriet Dart serving for the first set against Dalma Galfi.

Still Raducanu v Xu, Boulter v Badosa and Krueger v Stojsavljevic to come.
  • Fognini breaks Alcaraz in the fourth set...
  • Fognini breaks Alcaraz in the fourth set...
Make it a double break. Will serve for the set at 5-2.
  • Alcaraz saving himself for the fifth now
  • Great effort from 38 year old Fognini. Into a 5th set.

    I really hope he wins.
I have no rational reason for disliking Alcaraz but I do.
  • Awful set by alcaraz. Be surprised if he has another. Fabio has to be at his best to make sure alcaraz doesn't get any momentum.
Can see a lot of shouting and fists pumps to galvanise themselves

You probably hit the escape key

  • Someone has had a bit too much of the sun.
  • .fognini only really needs to keep the ball in play Alcaraz has mistakes in him, he’s failing to do that.
  • As Jimmy Connors said “I never lost I just ran outta time”
  • Classy from Alcaraz post match.
  • Classy from Alcaraz post match.
    Very classy
  • Boulter beats no 9 seed Badosa - battling performance.

7 Brits through to the 2nd round. Record breaking temperatures for the opening day at Wimbledon and record breaking day for Brits at Wimbledon in the open era.
  • Boulter beats no 9 seed Badosa - battling performance.
    But an awful game.
I used to love Wimbledon, been many times. I really think women’s tennis is going backwards.
This Fritz/Perricard game is dull too, just a case of how hard can I serve.

    Insist on wood rackets.
