    A very Bazball dismissal that.

Sheer stupidity from Smith, absolutely no need to go again
Plenty of reasons why England will lose this test.
But Smith is not one of them.

Of course but that doesn’t mean he is immune from criticism for how he lost his wicket. India laid a trap and he walked into it

6 ducks and no pairs, what a bizarre match

271 all out. Lose by 336 runs. Clearly didn’t want to have to come out after tea.

After all the talk about timing the declaration so that India could get a second new ball today, England crumble after 68 overs

I don't even know if rotating the bowling attack is going to help. A lot of pressure on Archer to come back and be the player he was

never thought I'd see the time when a 'battery' of Indian fast bowlers was faster, more aggressive and effective than a set of English 'quickies' .. we were out bazballed in this test
Changes for Lords ?, new opener for Crawley (doubt it'll happen) and 2 new quicks, probably including Archer which will be a BIG gamble

If we're gonna drop Bashir it has to be Dawson.

Bethel can come in as a batsman if needed. Not a frontline spinner.

Don't think Cook is up to it at international level.

Play Cook down under and he gets taken apart, he's Woakes without the same level of experience behind him and I don't feel confident about Woakes playing this winter either

Cook did excellently in Aus for the Lions

And Aus A/CA XI didn't have Travis Head to dismantle him. The Aussie batting line up is pretty weak and they'll have 2 inexperienced openers, it's our best chance in ages to win there. The selection of our bowling attack is more crucial than it has been for a long time

Who do England have? At least Cook bowls at the stumps

Where Cook might excel is the day/night pink ball Test in Brisbane as Scott Boland, who isn't much quicker than Cook, has done. It all depends how many quicks we take but, depending on fitness, it looks like Wood, Archer, Atkinson, Tongue, Carse and Potts (plus Stokes of course) are probably in front of him anyway.

At Lord's England will need someone like Cook who can bowl lots of overs, when you look at the match fitness of Archer, Atkinson and even Stokes...

I think (at least, I hope) the selectors will take into consideration Woakes' record at Lord's before deciding on the XI.

It's only Zimbabwe, though. SA are 626/5. At lunch on day 2.The bowling is a bit on the hapless side.

I think it's fair to say that the entire cricket world is rooting against Mulder here

Senokwane out for 3, then sits in the dressing room watching Mulder hit a triple century  :D

should want the record not to be against England.

But agreed, no way do I want Lara to lose that record.

    Still my favourite ever batsman.

Looking at the Lara 400 match, I'd forgotten that while it was easy conditions, it was scored against a really good England attack, with the 4 pace bowlers who would win the Ashes back in 2005 a year later!

It's like when you see the fastest T20 hundred & highest totals. It's always like Nepal vs Faroe Islands :D

Bizarre though, wouldn't you want the record?  Plenty of time left in the game too.

Yeah I would've taken it gladly. I'd be going for the Lara 500 too.

Yep, Estonia v Cyprus, and Zimbabwe v Gambia respectively!
