Do you know what compo Welling are getting for him, if any?
Think he might have been contracted

Yes a poor standard friendly, but first game with a completely new team.
Couldnt play a home game due to pitch repair works.
    Beggars can’t be choosers.
See what tomorrow brings (away at Tonbridge)

Hamlet last season introduced a home kit that was predominantly blue, a move away from the traditional predominantly pink. Fans did not like it, so the club listened and consulted and have moved back to tradition

    No mate i dont.
  • Welling lost 4-2 at Tonbridge last night.
Game of two halves really as basically two different sides put out.
Welling played the first half trying to play out from the back, and duly passed across the penalty area to Tonbridge CF to accept the free gift. Eastbourne (and to an extent, Dorking) tried this last season and cost them (in my opinion).
You need players of a certain standard (along with a decent pitch) to play this way.
    Welling have neither.

Found a cracking pub on the way for a bit of food and a couple of pints.
    Kentish Rifleman anyone?
  • Sounds like teams are withdrawing from the National League Cup

Their version of the EFL Trophy basically, where they face the U21 sides from Cat.1 Academies

Carlisle... York... Altrincham... Yeovil wont be taking part next season.

Looks like the U21s might have to just play each other

So Jason Whittingham has now sold the club to someone else that isn't Panjab Warriors.

Bond Group are pleased to announce that agreements will be signed this evening in relation to the sale of Morecambe FC.
A last-minute bid came through from a UK Buyer after learning about the club’s situation. That buyer has worked over the last 24 hours to turn around a payment to his solicitors for wages to be paid and agreed contracts pending approval of the sale by the National League.

He has already started preparing documentation for National League to give their approval for the sale and confirmed his financial support for the club this coming season, provided his takeover is approved.

This buyer will make their own statement shortly to introduce themselves and set out their plans for the club over the coming seasons.

    Further announcements to follow tomorrow
  • Most unexpected transfer of the summer.

    Andy Carroll signing for Dagenham.

Wow! I didn’t know he was still playing. Assumed he’d retired long ago. I guess it’s near where he lives? Maybe player manager in mind?

Spent last season playing for Bordeaux in the french fourth tier. Most of the teams are amateurs or at best semi-pro.

He has been playing in the lower leagues of France. I’m guessing that although money isn’t an issue for him, he will be on good money there, although they have new Middle Eastern investors
  • 6 years since he played for West Ham, maybe he still has that house.

Playing in NLS seems bizarre though.

He's in the process of getting divorced which probably won't be cheap so maybe he could do with playing on a bit. He's 36 but i'd have thought should be a monster at the level Dagenham play at.

  • Seems to be a serious chance that Morcambe are going to fail to start the season after relegation from League 2 last season. The finances are a mess and an owner who says he wants out seems to be reluctant to actually sell. Stop me if you've heard this one before...

  • Update from Morecambe.

Bond Group are aware that there is much ongoing speculation around the sale of the club.

We can confirm that a take-over deal is near completion with a consortium of individuals headed by people with genuine football experience, to acquire Bond group’s interest in the club. We can also confirm that despite speculation on the buyers’ identity, nobody from the consortium has yet been named publicly and recent guesses are not accurate.

We are grateful for the speed with which the new buyer has worked with their legal team on concluding their due diligence and negotiating the contracts, given the time pressures the club is facing.

The buyers have funds available to bring payments for the club up to date and we are working to conclude the transaction as quickly as possible.

We will issue a further update shortly.

  • Genuine football experience would worry me that it's one of the long list of EFL chancers we've seen before elsewhere.
  • When the buyers don’t want to break cover, you know it’s not going to go well for the fans.
  • I thought Tyson Fury was interested in buying Morecambe?

My immediate thought was a Bassini type but he's usually all over TV talking to anyone that will listen.

Hopefully it's none of our rogues gallery for Morecambes sake
