If I had paid a fortune to watch the ladies final today,I would demand a refund, under an hour of a one sided ,embarrassing match. They will get paid the same  money as Alcaraz and Sinner get tommorrow.
    Such a weird comment

would you want a refund after a first round knockout in a boxing match?

besides that was not the only match on centre court today.

It wasnt the only match, but I doubt many people would have paid a lot of money to see the doubles final, which is why they played it first .With regards to your boxing comment, everyone who watches boxing knows that at any one time one punch can end the contest, with a tennis final, especially the worlds premier event,we expected a contest.

If that's why they played te doubles match first, why has that only changed this year? Same today

After the singles finals finish, many spectators are not interested in the doubles and leave the arena, with the players playing to a half filled stadium.Dont know why they have only changed it this year, but it works with good crowds watching the doubles matches, and getting rewarded yesterday with a superb mens final.
  • I think the women's tennis should be best of five - doesn't make sense that it's different.

What actually is the rationale for women’s matches being best of three in Grand Slams?

Going Sinner, think a bit of divine intervention when Dimitrov got injured, think it's meant to be.

I know Alcaraz has his number a bit, but I think this will he his day.

Desperately disappointing that Andrew Castle is on comms, never known someone to love their own voice so much

Short answer it’s just tradition, would be interesting if the WTA put this forward if the tour were receptive to the idea.
may be misremembering but in Davis Cup the men and women play the same number?

Just on a practical level if the women played 5 sets you’d need to add another week to every Grand Slam which isn’t going to happen

That was brutal.  Congrats to Swiatek.
Swiatek is Polish, Anisimova is  first generation American, her parents are Russian .. I'm sure Swiatek was keen to demolish her opponent, given the state of Polish/Russo national relations

Anyone else think this has been a bit of a sloppy final? Some real excellence at times, but a fair few errors. Hope this goes the whole way

Think they’re both pushing so hard the mistakes are inevitable

Dunno, seeing a fair few open misses.

Maybe I'm just harshly comparing them to the 3 kings
