Jamie Alexander Hunter mentioned in the Shrimpers Trust statement above, is the same person involved in the report below.

Hamlets first home game of the season is against Dartford. As ever this clashes with Charltons first home game of the season, so not going to be able to attend.  The 12.30 kick off is just too late for me to shoot over to Champion Hill at full time.

I'm sure there will be a few at the Valley anticipating the score.

    Latest statement from Morecambe

An announcement had been planned for this afternoon, but due to false speculation about the buyer’s identity we have received consent to disclose the buyer’s identity.

The consortium buying Bond Group’s interest in the club, subject to National League approval, is led by Mr Jonny Cato with an impressive group being built around him to develop the club over the coming seasons.

Neither Jonny or his team have any connection to Jason or Bond Group of any kind and as before, nobody from the consortium has yet been named publicly. The current false speculation and guesses about the buyer’s identify are not accurate.

Sales agreements will be completed today (Friday 18 July 2025) and will include a generous payment from the buyer to pay staff and players while the National League approval process is completed. We are grateful for this gesture of goodwill when the club and its stakeholders needed it most.

This sale has progressed at a rapid pace and, once again, we are thankful to the buyer and his legal team for expediting the process to ensure the club’s status in the league was preserved.

The buyers will engage directly with the National League and the fans to introduce themselves and share their exciting plans for the club.

    Further announcement to follow today.

    Jason Whittingham,
    Bond Group Investments LTD

Panjab Warriors have now launched legal action and Morecambe has cancelled its friendly against Barrow on Tuesday as well.

British Army slang for an Officer, but particularly an Officer that is upper-middle class or above, and has a total lack of skill or common-sense.

What exactly is the end game for this guy? What does he get from constantly delaying things and not selling?

He had Punjab Warriors there and ready to buy and then totally fucked them over.

Thanks for this. I see updates but this has helped put them in context. I feel for the fans.

    I don't think they're Rupert's, they're more Henry's. Either way I can't stand them.

The Shrimps Trust are supportive of minority shareholding action against Bond Group Investments Limited and call upon Jason Whittingham to adhere to the instructions of the letter of claim within 48 hours.

    More from Morecambe:

    https://www.morecambefc.com/news/2025/july/27/public-statement-on-behalf-of-jason-whittingham--bond-group/

"Bond Group Investments has continued to work with the Consortium led by Jonny Cato in their efforts to acquire the majority shareholding in Morecambe Football Club.

Whilst talks are ongoing, it is clear that continual negative press statements impacting on the club, have given them cause for concern and pause.

Alongside this, Bond Group had agreed to an offer, made by a Sikh representative of, and on behalf of, the Panjab Warriors, and are ready to sell on that basis.

Despite numerous attempts over the past week to contact Panjab Warriors regarding their offer, and our willingness to complete, we have not heard from them.

We now urge the Panjab Warriors to make contact in an effort to complete on the sale.

    Jason Whittingham"

That statement makes no sense. No one can find evidence of Jonny Cato existing and Punjab Warriors have made it clear they've instructed their lawyers so I have no idea what Jason is on about.

I don't think anyone anywhere believes a single word the guy comes out with.

On the face of it, it looks like he's made up a fake consortium in a bid to get Punjab Warriors to up their offer. They basically told him to fuck off and now he's wondering why they're not coming back to him.

Looking at the Isthmian League fixture list, quite surprised that there are no games on Boxing Day or NYD. Instead the games are on the Saturday (27th December and 3rd January).

Also that the Dartford Welling games aren't being played over that period, and instead are on 1st November (PP) and 28th February (PVR).

Just can't see this ending well. Whittingham is a Steve Dale type chancer, Punjab Warriors have seemingly disappeared and I don't think the other consortium even exists.

At least they've removed them from the National League Cup... So one silver lining.

The football league need to be held responsible, but that would be far too simplistic.

Morcambe reported to have ceased playing football, presumably including training as well as friendlies, due to insurance premiums not being paid.
