There is no way on earth I was expecting a window like this. Especially Christmas time last year, tbh even after we won at Wembley I wouldn’t have thought we’d have a window like this.
Feels kind of surreal, only felt like this when we had Curbs…Powell and Bowyer were great times but always some shit show in the background.
Bolton being linked with Ahadme and just signing Burstow really shows how it was for us not so long ago. Tough sheet for them I guess
The thing that strikes me about Bolton was we were all feeling gutted when they bought Collins from Bristol ahead of us. Seems like yesterday. He'll now be plying his trade in the 4th division, and Bolton have really lost their sparkle at the same time we are buying so many talented players. How quickly the tables have turned for us. Quite amazing really.
This feels like the most exciting time to be a Charlton fan since the prem days. It finally feels like we have owners, directors & a management team all pulling in the same direction.
Enjoy the ride peeps. We deserve this
I can't help wondering if the way we went up has had some affect on the owners when it came to the transfer window. They clearly enjoyed the play offs & of course Wembley. It must have increased their bond with the club & maybe they got the football bug.
Also going up via the play-offs would have supported the case that the squad needed real strengthening to be competitive in the Championship.
Whatever the reason, they have given fans a reason to be optimistic & long may it last.
Surprised at how much we've spent this window - hoping the majority of the signings work out.
Feel pretty confident we'll stay up given how much stronger the squad is.
I think we could have stayed up with the team we had at Wembley, seems that this ownership is very ambitious.
Am a bit disappointed that the owners haven't promised us Europe in 5 years yet
Thomas Sandgaard was a character but... Action feels better than words and we don't need No guitar man to go OTT with ambition.
Much prefer this set up when the top brass turned up at Wembley and realized they had bought into a club with potential to be a top half championship club with the fanbase to match within a couple of seasons with some shrewd signings to go with the best of the League 1 Play off winners. Spending money to give the club a chance to carry on the momentum is impressive.
I just hope the newer fans or returning fans don't give it large when we go a few games without winning which will obviously happen at some point.
Curbs said don't be too loyal but also the new possible 10 players that join should've to work for the shirt or Jersey not take it as a Shay Given they are starters.
Rumours on the reading forum they're close to signing Josh Bowler from Forest who would kind of be a Knibbs replacement if a bit more of a natural winger so I wonder if they're wanting to time the 2 deals.

As Reading are losing Knibbs to possibly the ambitious CAFC, is Bowler coming in just Spin 🏏

Yes, but the lesson there is not to count your chickens before they have hatched. Signings can look to be good ones in theory but not deliver in practice. The same goes for all our summer signings this year. Lots to like about our new players, but they've all delivered nothing yet so important not to get ahead of ourselves in terms of expectations on how this season is going to pan out.
Knibbs is an established high end League 1 player who is ready for the championship.
Karoy wouldn't be able to stand out like Knibbs has in League 1 and look as comfortable for 3 seasons in a row, especially with those attacking numbers. Sorry but it's true.
Whether or not Karoy gets better we don't know, but right now he's not even close to him or similar.
you can still compare the two without saying they're identical. I also see a lot of similarities with Knibbs being a much more rounded player clearly
Yeah but to say they're the same player except for the goals, come on.
Harvey Knibbs will more or less be a guaranteed starter in a championship side this season, Karoy was a bench player for a League 1 promoted side.
Karoy has a decent ceiling, but I have seen nothing of Karoy to suggest he is similar to Knibbs.
Maybe I am underrating him, but saying he is Knibbs without the goals is overrating him for sure imo.
I didn’t realise my comparison would cause such a stir. I thought it obvious that Knibbs is the clearly better player right now.
My point was more that, playing in that role behind the strikers, they will play very similar games when out of possession. What Knibbs has above and beyond Karoy is the ability to pick a pass or finish a chance with more regularity than Karoy can (at the moment).
I get the feeling NJ absolutely LOVES Karoy but has to resort to using him mainly off the bench until he (Karoy) can find a way to contribute more going forwards. He’s great at breaking the game up and playing against tiring legs but less effective when the onus is on him to do something clever with the ball after he wins it.
Until then, having Knibbs harrying and creating for 75 minutes followed by Anderson coming on as his substitute to maintain that tempo for the last 15-20 minutes sounds about as close to ideal for a Nathan Jones team as you could wish for.
Anderson's biggest weakness is that he can lose possession in dangerous places. He's very good at pressing, but is also very vulnerable at being pressed. As was shown on Saturday, for the Cambridge goal. Keeping him high up the pitch, is beneficial both as it exploits his energy and pressing ability, but also it minimises the risk of breakaway goals when he loses possession.

Things move fast in football. In 2023 Luton were about to start life in the Premier league and Wrexham were in league 2.
Fast forward 2 years and Wrexham are a division above them and linked with signing Christian Eriksen, whilst Luton are losing their best player to Millwall.

I sure that he will feature in a lot of games this season but hopefully late on when we are closing a game out his energy and closing down is fantastic in those situations but if he is starting games (which I really don’t think he will) we are in trouble. We are rightly very proud of our academy but that pride sometimes clouds our judgement n respect of players like him and TC

Good player is Bowler to be fair
