There’s many of us overseas or far afield wishing we could be at the Valley today for Malcolm’s sendoff but can’t. So we’ll be thinking of RedM, his family and his friends today. We’re wishing everyone all the best. RIP Malc.12

Been home an hour after an exhausting day, making sure everything was in place for the family was my aim and I think it happened as it was intended. My thanks to Angie and both families for allowing us (that’s you guys and girls on here) for allowing us to get involved,
So many people have helped and supported me through the last five or six weeks enabled me to arrange a send off worthy of a Charlton life member and a true friend.
@Henry Irving" @cherryorchard, great to speak to you both today. To the club, thank you to Donna, Ravi, Mick Everett and the staff I met today for helping the day run so smoothly, I even showed my face in the club shop but sadly wasn’t recognised and had to introduce myself, why?……..because I didn’t have my dog with me. 🤷♂️Proof if it was at all needed, Bow’s popularity is at a level I can only dream of.
As Angie said when she spoke at the service, she often criticised Malcolm for missing family birthdays etc especially in the early day before Charlton TV to transcribe the audio into text on here. What she didn’t realise and has since found out, this is a Charlton family and one that she now feels part off and expressed her gratitude publicly via me earlier.
To @KillersBeard for the reading, I was asked if I would like to say a few words but declined as a large percentage of the families had never met me and I didn’t want to offend anyone with stories of our relationship that may involve industrial language or our continued discussions on his age, also my inability to hold it together was also a factor.Thank you to the Royal Oak for a wonderful spread and of course the lifer that made it possible. One family member present was outed as a Spanner to me, expecting a wagon load of grief I explained we have a couple friendly spanner’s that not only visit the forum and always leave without a police escort they contributed to Malc’s farewell today so he also maybe another exception to the norm.Again to you all as Angie said “Malcolm didn’t express any last wishes, but he would have loved this and Charltonlife made it happen, thank you all so much.
Thats enough from me, take care of yourselves.Ray42 -
@T_C_E Ray, you're a good man, and a good friend.
I'm glad today went as well as can be expected for the family, friends and yourself, I only know you through Charlton and that fateful ride to Amsterdam (my left knee is still shot all these years later) but I know what a good person you are.
I'm sure I can say for everyone, we are only too pleased to have been able to help a fellow lifer on their way and to make things a little easier for Angie and Red's family.
RIP Malcolm, Redmidland, at peace at The Valley, very fitting........9 -
Looks like a lovely day. You guys did him proud.5
