Something to do with the shambles at Vitesse, in Holland I would guess.

As a shareholder there, he was waiting to sell his shares there and pass the EFL test.

In the grand scheme of things I couldn’t give a toss. The club appears to be in safe, sensible hands now, we are having a fantastic transfer window and I am hoping that carries over to Championship survival next season

A new CEO will be in place at some point, it just so happens this one didn’t work out

He agreed to sell his shares
The club announced he was joining us
The purchaser of the shares realised he had leverage over Dane and tried to drop the price, the process stalled.
We announce it is off
The purchaser has no leverage and now buys the shares at the agreed price
He joins us in a couple of weeks.

if you are employing such a high profile position, you do your homework/background checks, I think that was probably lacking here.

I don't think it's unfair at all. They easily could have waited until the appointment was official before announcing it. They wouldn't announce a player signing before it had gone through.

At the end of the day, no damage has been done, but it's fair to say it could have been handled better.

Tbf there is zero chance that a former prem forest ceo being appointed at charlton would have not been picked up by the press, and it would have looked amateur hour if the papers had announced it before us. I'd guess he has struggled to get fair value on his Vittesse shares, which he would have needed to sell to come in as CEO, and it's dragged on too long, so we have moved on

I assume that selling his shares in Vitesse was Charlton’s requirement, as these wouldn’t have been an issue with the EFL. As we’ve seen from the shambles in Croydon, you can own shares in more than one club…so long as you aren’t in the same country/competition.

Vitesse does sound like a mess, so perhaps that was a sound requirement from Charlton to ensure we didn’t get dragged into it by association.

As mentioned, Comms could and should be better, but I’d expect a decent CEO to sort that out…soon(ish) 🤷🏻‍♂️😉

Looks to me like Murphy did a decent enough job at other clubs to give him the benefit of the doubt. Let's just hope the stink of Vitesse doesn't follow him.
