This is going to be the drawiest draw in the history of draws. If India don't pick Kuldeep and stack their bowling they're even bigger idiots than I thought
Certainly looks like a draw is more likely what with rain, thunder & lightening forecast for tomorrow until mid/late afternoon. Might get some play tomorrow if they play until 7/7.30pm. Friday & Saturday look ok so just depends if we bat ok & don't suffer one of our legendary collapses.

Don’t think I’ll be watching any of this test, hideously ugly bowling attack, and that’s not just because Overton is playing.

FAN ZONE ON KENNINGTON OVAL ROAD

Visit our dedicated Fan Zone during the Test Match! Think food, drinks, music, and cricket on the big screen.

Located on the Kennington Oval Road, just outside the ground, the area is filled with picnic benches, lots of food outlets, and a mega screen to keep up with the cricket, while breezy music plays in the background. Whether you are seeking a good spot during a break, want to stretch your legs for a few minutes, or wish to just enjoy some delicious food or a drink with your family or friends, the Fan Zone is the Kia Oval’s very own pub garden.

New for this year I assume. It makes sense to do something with the quiet road around one half of the site, as the concourses are horribly busy. Sadly not much use with the likely weather tomorrow.

It's raining at The Oval. Looking at the forecast, I'm pondering whether it's even worth travelling to the ground

Absolutely, 100% worth going. Covers are coming off now. Have a great day.

I can get to The Oval in 45 minutes so will leave it as late as possible, while following the updates on social media. The forecast is terrible though, and I'd be amazed if there is any play, as even if it stops, chances are another shower will arrive before the outfield has dried.

4 Surrey boys in the side. Surrey player as captain. Being played at the people's home of cricket.

Lovely stuff. Shame about the weather

Bad news for anyone hoping Kuldeep Yadav or Arshdeep Singh would be playing for England today.

Slightly odd situation now where Bethell is auditioning to potentially take the role of the person captaining him
I think he's auditioning for a role anywhere in the team. We won't afraid to throw him in at 3 in New Zealand and I'm sure if he does well here then a place will be found for him anywhere from 1 to 7. He has 12 FC wickets to his name at 70.00 and has 2-90 off 20 overs in the CC this season. He is nowhere near being regarded as an all rounder in red ball but someone that we will throw the ball to in order to break up the monotony of seamer after seamer.
Of course but the two most under pressure players are probably Crawley and Pope (I don't think either will actually be dropped). The rest of the top 7 are pretty nailed on.

Will also be interested to see how much he is thrown the ball when the seamers need a rest and if he gets it before Root
Pope won’t be dropped and it’s pretty clear Crawley has his place til the end of the ashes.

I’d be shocked if pope gets a score though, having the captaincy on his plate this test.

Dry at the moment.  And when it rains, only a short run to the exit...

Entered through the Burns gate.  Has Rory Burns really got a gate named after him?

Every championship winning captain gets one. Given burns has won 4? County championships as captain I think that's pretty fair

Pope will be chuffed about that, a decent DRS call!

No player with the ponytail he sported after Covid should have a gate named after him.

How were the queues and bag checks getting in please? I'm there tomorrow and going early means ripoff peak trains.

I'm watching on Sky as I iron.
Is it really noisy there or is there something really weird going on with the sound?

    Jesus.

Take him off. He's all over the place. India will win with Extras alone.

Josh Tongue is bowling like someone who hasn't bowled a ball in anger for 10 days. Watch out for the straight one India!!!

Not bad. I went in the Burns gate which was a bit faster, having come from Vauxhall station
