Millwall [H] ticket information

  • So anyway, the tickets on Friday reads as if they’re keeping some back for VG members + others for general sale to Charlton fans effectively.
  • I don’t want to go to this match by train due to threats and physical assaults by (some) Millwall fans over the years.
Hopefully it will be a dry day where walking and getting a bus becomes a decent option.
  • Sheesh Clive.
    You are a human Wikipedia.
There are countless lifers who have benefited from your tips and info.
    Thanks.

Haven’t read anything but I need to buy a single under 11 ticket (have an adult and u11 ST already). Does the club allow that?
I suspect you will need to ring the ticket office. I doubt if it will be a problem then.

  • the good news is that apparently we had a similar curse over them between 1930 and 1970ish so that's 40 years to us, then they probably shaded the 70@s and 80@s, we virtually relegated them in 96 (not as directly as we did palace but without our our double over them they would have survived) and they've had the edge since we met again in what 2009? so, the reality is we haven't played them much since 96 and although they've had the upper hand, pattern is obvious and clear to me that we are due another 40 year domination
  • oh, and did i mention they have never won a major trophy - unlike all other south london clubs (bromley don't count as bromley is just a no mans land between us and palace)

Did we even play them between about 1935 and 1965? Or am I being whooshed!
But yeh, broadly I agree with you, they have always been shit and just got lucky  ;)

We didn’t beat you between 1934 and 1968 so not quite 40 years. And it was a total of 6 games (3 draws and 3 defeats). You haven’t managed to beat us in the last 12 (twelve) attempts. Prior to this current run and your famous ‘double’ you had beaten us just 4 (four) times in 34 games. This was the period when you said we ‘shaded it’. Hmmm, yep… just shaded it there didn’t we 🤣

Out of the 76 games between the two clubs Charlton have won a total of 12 (and one of those was an Anglo Italian Mickey Mouse cup game) We have won 37 (all league games).
Even if you were to break the duck this season, the chances of you witnessing Charlton catch us up with wins in your lifetime is almost zero.

Dress it up as much as you like, other than Liverpool v Everton and Chelsea v Fulham, this has to be the most one sided derby in English football. And it hurts you Douchy doesn’t it? I mean, you’ll never admit to it, but we all know it does. What with us being little old Smallwall and all. But you still can’t get the better of us 😁

And yes Charlton’s two wins in 95/96 contributed to us going down that season. Just as our two wins over Charlton contributed to you going down much more recently in 19/20. Just think, if Matty Smith hadn’t have scored that majestic header in the 2nd minute of injury time at The Den that season you would have stayed up by two points. What a different last half a decade you would have had. 😁

I’m now calling it the Bermondsay penitentiary.
  • We were just too good to play them competitively for a long period too.

You might want to pay me not to go. I've not seen us beat Millwall EVER. I was working the evening in the snow of 1995. Was at the Valley when we were 4-3 up, they were down to 10 men yet still managed a last minute equaliser. At the Den in 1988 (?) when we were 2 up & they scored 2 late goals to get another equaliser.

    Edit.

Just seen that we did the double in 95/96. I must have been at the home game in 96 to see us beat them 2-0 but I cant remember it.

    You can all stand down.

There are others. Villa - Birmingham is fairly shocking. Villa lead Birmingham 57 wins to 38. In their last 16, Villa have won 11, drawn 4 and lost just once.

Preston lead Blackpool by about 16 wins, Arsenal lead Spurs by 22 wins, Spurs also 25 wins behind Chelsea. Rotherham lead Doncaster by 21 wins.

Outside of England the only two I can think of that are equally as embarrassing are Barca Espanyol, 128 wins for Barca, 44 Espanyol, & Juve Torino, 110 wins Juve, 73 Torino.

Our Derby is definitely an outlier though, almost unbelievable actually. We trail by 25.

It's just a shame we didn't play you much when we had Curbs and were at our best where I think we could have padded it out a bit better.

Nathan Jones' side host the Lions in their cup final game at The Valley on Saturday, September 13th (KO 12.30pm BST) and with a high demand for tickets expected (what with it being our cup final), season-ticket holders will be given the opportunity to purchase up to two tickets for the cup final on Wednesday, August 6th from 11am.

The fixture has been designated as a Charlton Cup Final with adult ticket prices starting at £30.

*Supporters will need to have a purchase history on the club's ticketing system as of 11am on Friday, August 1st to be able to purchase tickets.

A number of home tickets for the cup final against Millwall will be reserved for Valley Gold members and will be available to purchase from 11am on Friday, August 8th.

    Edited it for you 😉
Come on now - we’ve just had our Cup Final (at Wembley with 38k fans), you guys are just another game for us after so long.
Our last ‘cup final’ was an actual cup final
Hmmm - but we have been in 2 cup finals, and we won the 2nd one we were in - pop along to the CAFC Museum and have your picture taken holding the replica of the FA Cup we won - it’s a thing of beauty - we also have CAFC players winners medals on display - and lots more rich history

    Smallwall got a museum 🤔

Actually, if they do, not much to put on display ……
But at least most of us have actually seen us in a real life cup final, and a couple of semi finals, and a few quarter finals. Can’t be said for most of your support. Ok, you won the fa cup long before most of you were born. It was so long ago does it really mean that much?

So let me get this straight — a major title only "counts" if the majority of a fanbase is still alive to have seen it happen? Am I reading that right?

By that logic, does England's 1966 World Cup win still count? Are we scrapping World War victories next? Maybe Uruguay should ditch those two World Cup stars on their badge as their wins were so long ago. Where exactly are we drawing the line these days?

...and as Airman pointed out, we have seen an FA cup quarter final as recently as 2014, a league cup one in 2023.

Interesting. I think the thing that makes our record v you lot even more strange is that you are the bigger club. I mean, I don’t think the difference in size is as big as some of your fans think, but I’m still happy to accept that Charlton are the bigger club. In all the other examples you mentioned (and the two I mentioned) it’s the bigger club who has the better record or at least clubs that are of a similar size roughly.

While it doesn't excuse our shameful record when we do play you, the long term trend is that Charlton plays Millwall in periods when we are underperforming and you overperfoming.

We have not had the chance to beat you during the strongest periods of our history because as a rule you have not been good enough (big enough?) to be in the same division as Charlton when we perform to our potential.

The last decade or so has been an outlier, but over time Charlton is a substantially a larger and more successful club than Millwall on many measures.

As an aside I note there is a thread on what I think is your biggest forum dedicated to Charlton; in fact notionally to Charlton life. Despite so many Millwall fans being apparently indifferent to Charlton this a very heavily visited thread - second only to transfer rumours, and way ahead of other current discussions.

I really enjoy your contributions here by the way, as many others clearly do also. Not sure a Charlton fan on a Millwall forum would be so welcome and treated so respectfully?

Of course it counts but it means less to me than it does say my dad because he was there to witness it, I wasn’t. I am desperate to see England win a World Cup and experience the elation that comes with it. My dad can go to the grave knowing he has experienced England winning a major tournament.

Re quarter finals, maybe I should have said we’ve experienced our team winning quarter finals. 😁

Erm, that’s sort of the point I was making. Douchy was making out it was some great unbeaten run against us, on par with our unbeaten runs v you. I pointed out it was only 6 games. 🤷🏼

Surely when we play each other in the league we’re doing so on a fairly equal footing? If you’re the bigger club, which I wouldn’t dispute (although I would argue not as big as a lot of your fans tend to think 😉), you should still have just as good a chance at beating us if you’re playing below your usual level and we’re playing above ours?

And thank you , I’ll take that last comment as a compliment. 😊
13 years I’ve been posting on here, on and off. I remember I came in for a lot of stick in the early days but been mostly accepted since then. It’s a decent board with plenty of traffic and some good debates. I try not to go to overboard with the banter and not step over the line, I think most people can see that.

You're getting on my tits already and the season has not even started B)
