  • Killer! Killer!
  • It was always a memorable moment when Killer decided to chase back, normally resulting in a crunching tackle from behind. I always assumed the opposing player had upset him somehow, as he normally just wandered around until it was time to score.

or one of his team mates had asked Derek to deal with a miscreant on their behalf, and target him to extract retribution!

Just caught up with the Hales interview from March 25. Gave me a chuckle. Worth a read for anyone else who missed it first time around.

    Glad you liked it!
It was an honour to meet Derek- someone I’ve only ever heard stories of, having only gone to my first CAFC game in 2004- but the stories and infamy are so true, having met him!

Was great to meet him, arguably there’s not many CAFC fans under 50 that can say “Killer bought me a pint”!🤣

Can you imagine how he'd react to NJ berating him for not closing down (or 'pressing' as it is now called).
What did footballers do before “high press” and “low press”?

It was called “closing down” and “sitting back”.

Harried was a word often used back in the day.
