My first half analysis is simple.

We're doing the basics well, defending well, but our final part is just missing the link between forwards and midfield.

We have generally been the better side, but Watford are a danger still. Could see this finishing 1-1 as predicted.

Not sure I understand the TC criticism here, think he's caused them problems. Doc, on the other hand, doesn't look sharp and has made several very poor mistakes. Loving Apter's delivery and link up play with Carey

Doc and TC are easy to criticise because they have their daft moments on the ball but people have to recognise part of this is because they show so much for the ball. Doc provides an outlet for defenders and midfielders on the ball constantly and helps us keep possession while TC gets the ball punted up at him and has to make something of it. They can both improve on the ball but the amount of work they're putting in to try and make things happen in incredible
But we want to see our shiny new toys in Knibbs, JRC and Tanto take their place!

Decent performance,  Jones and Ramsay stepping up to the Championship and looking at home.

With Apter putting in some decent crosses ,  a bit more height up front would be useful.

Ramsay gets better every match he plays, reminds me of Joe Gomez , so strong & unhurried in everything he does

    Defence class.
    midfield awful (besides Carey)
    new boys doing well.
Kelman needs more to work with
TC promising but lacks in key moments

Thought as a first half of a first game of the season it's been pretty good.

Obviously we have no idea where Watford will rank in terms of quality of opponents yet. They could well end up 24th for all we know.
As it stands, it seems tough to expect anyone to finish below Wednesday, given their plight

    Carey very good.
Apter showing flashes of quality. Once he settles you can see he’s going to have a real impact.
    Jones, Edwards and Ramsey excellent

I hate to say it but doc and Coventry might not work at this level.

Very good start that. Front footed as NJ would say. Watford look dangerous on the counter. Hopefully we settle down a bit second half a grab a goal.

Can’t knock Kelman he isn’t getting enough service those long balls aren’t going to work.

Kelman looking behind a little bit on pace...prove me wrong Charlie...
He hasn't been given much service. Doc's 30 yards balls that sail out for a goal kick don't help.

Simple solution, replace Docherty with some one who
    1. Does not give the ball away
    2. Can pass accurately more than 5 yards

Watching the game on my phone in a bar in Positano. Thought we started well but the best chances have fallen to Jones. We need to get service to Kelman.

Jones, Ramsey, Edwards, Carey and Apter all look very good.  Doc and Bell have struggled at times.  TC’s pace is tough to deal with even at the Championship level but his decision making with the ball at his feet has been poor

Agree. I think he's looked really sharp. We need more from Kelman in the second half.

Sonny Carey my pick of the bunch for the new boys, looks like a handful. Once again we look like a complete pain in the arse to play against. Love it
Our back line is looking good.
Kelman anonymous at the moment, Doch a little wasteful and giving the ball away cheaply.
    team looks decent overall.
Apter has a really good delivery on him..
    looks more accomplished than small
Kelman will probably do nothing of note, but score the winning goal.

You need to replace Cov too in that case. His passing has also been poor.

Carey the only midfielder to really be at it today.

Baah looks pretty dangerous to me. Got a slight edge on speed and strength to edwards.
Funny how people see the game differently. I think he's been pony and Edwards has had his number.

My word isn't it bloody lovely to be back in the championship!!
We've been good I reckon, every team will have their spells in a game against us, and we have handled it all relatively well. We've worked their keeper far more than they have ours. I feel TK could 'own' his box a bit better, but thats something we've been told is his weakness. TC has been a threat, love the play between Sonny and Arter.
Very happy with that 1st half.

Wonder if we need JRC’s experience and ability to get a goal from midfield? Would be my first change when it comes.

Good first half - some really neat passing passages from us and made their keeper make two good saves . Most the new boys doing ok - Bell looks a great addition.
Doc and Coventry playing too many hit and hope balls to TC - our better stuff has come from short pass interplay. Bah looks trouble - hes skinned & nutmegged Josh Edwards at the end of the half and reckons hes got him for pace. Early days for the attacking group lets hope they come pout for the 2nd half like the first and get that break we deserved.

I’ve said before, Doc is not in this side for his quality on the ball. Jones rates him because of his leadership, his work rate, his box to box running, his tactical awareness and reading of the game in the press, and his positional discipline. It does mean moves sometimes break down with him which is frustrating but he still brings qualities to the table and he always contributes. You’re never left wondering if he’s playing because he makes sure he stays involved.

I should know better, but I’m surprised to log on here at half time and learn TC is getting criticised. Not sure he could do a whole lot more with what he had to work with, worked hard in the press, won us some free kicks, and put in one very dangerous ball across the six yard box. Was hardly anonymous or totally ineffective.

Decent first half, we certainly don't look out of place against championship opposition. TC looking sharp, Apter and Carey have been quality and we've defended really well as a unit. Some stray passes from Coventry, very unusual.

Looking forward to the second half, and NJ has nine game changers on the bench, could be interesting...

Lloyd Jones looks very at home at this level already, he's so good!  Am I right in thinking he's not played championship before?

It's amazing they found shorts that would fit...

Really like the look of Bell so far. Looks very calm and assured. Clearly been tasked with keeping Sissoko out of the game. Like the energy of Carey and you can tell he and Apter have played together before. Kelman strikes me as needing a goal to get him going. Ramsey, Jones and Edwards picking up where they left off.

Exciting to think of the options we've got off the bench
