They clearly hire cheaply to protect the profit margins and then don't invest the time or money to train them correctly, and if by some miracle they do, any supervisor or head honcho (if there are any) in the bar areas should be picking out those that clearly have an attitude problem or no work ethic and binning them off. A solid backbone of well trained motivated team members on the payroll should be in each bar, leading by example and making sure standards are kept, and identifying the problem areas, be it staff, procedures or stock.

I'm presuming that if the club want staff with a semblance of knowing what they are doing, they may need to pay G & G more, unless the wording of the contract is sufficient that it can be demanded on the basis of 2/3 years of gross incompetence.

And for those of us who have to travel a fair way to The Valley, we also have the difficulties around finding somewhere to park in the vicinity and having left home pretty early ( especially for 12.30 kick offs) , somewhere very local to eat & drink....
And that brings up another point ...AS far as I could see, no menus on the tables in Crossbars & seemingly no chips which is what we always bought in the past. Again, lack of communication with us, the faithful, if the menu options have changed this season including the absence of Perkalicious in there on Saturday.....

I'm not in any way denigrating bar work. I’ve done it albeit a lifetime ago and you have to have a few gears when it gets busy. But it isnt complicated work
A problem I've noticed over the last decade in the workplace is I am an outlier in terms of putting my foot up peoples arses when its needed. I'm not talking about bullying or screaming at people but I am talking about making people aware they need to be moving faster than they are and the abject shock on the faces of everyone that experiences that for the first time. If I'm being old school I might blame it on the lack of competetive sport kids play now or the idea that if you just dream big and ask the universe something amazing will happen. That last bit is only semi serious, I don't know what causes such a high proportion of that generation to move with the speed of a striking sloth in the workplace.
Besides that, nobody behind any of the ramps seems fussed about getting people served what they order in quick time so who is going to chivvy anyone along?

What are they going to do to sort out the Catering in the North Stand? Shambles, 20 Min wait/poor service. keeping the beer barrels chilled would help! small kiosk lost numerous pints. Proper training for the young staff. Not good experience for regulars or the many first timers
Unbelievable wait times on the concourse North lower for sub standard beers and foods....bring back the self serve beer machines please as those behind the kiosks are incapable of doing the job in hand

Beer running out in North Lower, food and drinks queues massive, toilets overflowing then closed in the away end, lights still broken on the concourse.. who the hell prioritised the maintenance/improvements at the Valley this summer?

Is there a reason why they don’t pre-pour pints at peak times at the bars? Pre-pouring ~50 peronis in the 10 mins leading up to HT would cut queues hugely and lead to way more being served/bought and more money for the club.

The other suggestion is to reach our directly to Asahi UK - the whole bar is tied to their portfolio. If they are aware that the their brands aren't being handled well they in often cases can offer to educate their customers/product handlers (G&G/CAFC in this case) in customer service best practice etc.
They could easily send some brand ambassadors down every few weeks to do teach ins at the start of shifts with the agency staff - and some activations with the clientele of the bars too.

Understand Fannys point for convenience and age of her group. Our group arnt spring chickens but we demonstrated with our feet. The Radical is right outside Plumstead station, and the Harry in WA a couple of minutes walk away.
A round of beers for 4 of us in the rad is about£14 compared to £29 in fans bar. Even less in spoons. Things wont improve unless people do what we did. No end of mailing and badgering the board will improve it, in my view. We have tried it, it didnt work.
Used to go to the Fans Bar during the Roland years and it was a pain then. We do The Bugle Horn before and after now. They've opened up their function room now so it was easy to get a drink on Saturday, and it was a great atmosphere after the game in the sunshine

Last time I popped in to see you lovely lady, I left 3/4 of the pint of meantime ale I purchased. Can’t blame the detergent as it wasn’t early, there were plenty in front of me. It just tasted disgusting 🤢 I went to Fan Zone & had a perroni & it was fine. After the game I had another in the posh bar in the West & again it was fine. My impression is, they care less about Crossbars, which is poor form.

We went to Makro’s before the game to get 4 off packs (24 bottles in a pack) of water for £2.99 per pack. Went into the ground (lower west) and ordered a bottle of water (not a pack of 24) £2.50 if that wasn’t bad enough but the girl then offered me the card machine and told me to tap, I tried 4 or 5 times before me boy politely told her she was holding the machine the wrong way round, made me laugh.

The issue with that is we drive from E Sussex every time so our arrival in SE7 is due to the state of the A21, M25 & A2 traffic . We already pay for matchday parking locally so no problems there due to foresight but no way would we then get a train elsewhere or be able to walk too far....

Understand your situation. I travel from the other side of Basingstoke but of course by bus then train. It's probably same time frame if you chose the public transport route as it does for me. But of course there is two of you.
But i wouldn't use a facility no matter how convenient it is if it continued to give such poor and shoddy service, as the fans bar does.

A round of beers for 4 of us in the rad is about£14 compared to £29 in fans bar. Even less in spoons. Things wont improve unless people do what we did. No end of mailing and badgering the board will improve it, in my view. We have tried it, it didnt work.
Looks like the head of the whole operation role is vacant..which makes a lot of sense
My choice is to eat and drink elsewhere
I went to Fan Zone & had a perroni & it was fine.
After the game I had another in the posh bar in the West & again it was fine.
My impression is, they care less about Crossbars, which is poor form.
Also who wants to work under that pressure for basically an hour every 2 weeks - it’s doomed before it began ..
But i wouldn't use a facility no matter how convenient it is if it continued to give such poor and shoddy service, as the fans bar does.
