When I have tried to buy a pint ( North Lower) Server 1, takes the order, looks at Server 2. Server 2 wanders off to fulfill order. Server 1 offers card machine to take payment, Server 2 now wanders back to ask Server 1 what did she ask her to get. Server 1 looks at me, I reply pint of Perroni. Server 1 tells Server 2, Server 2 dutifully wanders off. Short interlude Server 2 returns with a pint. Server 3 then hands me a pie I didn’t order. Server 1 then looks at the customer to her left who is looking for ketchup.
That is why I don’t get beer in the ground.
But you do get a free pie ! 😉😆
I wonder how the interview process works for these jobs?
Had to pay £4.10 for a pint of Guinness on Tuesday.
Shocking but the usual riff raff weren't in the Rad.
Next home game they will be 😁
Went in the Rad after the game Saturday and it was fairly busy but the service was slow, and the staff (2 in no) didn't have a clue who was next. next 3pm game isn't till the end of September
Hi all Perkalicious coffee bike Alex here. I just watched the fans forum video. As it stands I still dont know if I can trade for the Leicester game. No email or nothing as of yet. I can only presume Gavin meant I can trade too. But need some written confirmation or all clear i can. Still dont know 😕

It felt like Gavin Carter was saying that because Gather and Gather do all the training ground catering then voiding the contract would be difficult. He mentioned it at least twice. He also seemed to suggest that he will have something different in place at the Valley for the Millwall game if things don’t improve. If you read the Watford fans experience at the Valley you will see how appallingly and embarrassingly we treat away fans, I don’t want to imagine how the Millwall fans will react. I think Gavin Carter said one positive for us is how much away fans like coming to the Valley, well it is not only home catering and facilities that need improving…a lot. I got the feeling he couldn’t remember the name ‘perkalicious’ but he meant it could come back. I hope it does.

A pulse is the only requirement, and even that is debatable

Assuming you are allowed back, where do you peddle (sell) your coffee, I’m in the west stand and the foul rubbish they pretend is coffee is an insult to coffee, it’s just hot water with a granule of coffee in it. Might it be possible to get a licence so you could serve say the lower west or the fan zone with something drinkable, I’m easy all I want is a black coffee, nothing fancy. Hope it all works out for you and you get your ok.

If there is a high turnaround of staff I imagine the interview is not very demanding.

That has been aimed at me on the odd occasion, although not about job interviews.................

I posted very early on this thread and as it runs and runs I would like to say actually I have never had a worse bar experience in 35 years of drinking than at HT at the fans bar on Sat.
Comments have already been made be whoever is responsible for the staff / service / booze should hang their head in shame ..
If the staff aren't competent they shouldn't be paid.
Half of it is attitude and enthusiasm.
I had Saturday jobs at 14 serving customers and worked in busy McDonald's at 16 that made pouring a few pints and grabbing a sausage roll (insert kenneth williams image) like a piece of piss.
They're not toddlers and will have been shown how to pour a pint. If they aren't interested/ capable/ competent they shouldn't be working there as it's costing the club a fortune and frustrating literally thousands of fans.
It's a pouring coffees and beers not programming space ships and they're all of an age where it's really not too much to expect and a bit of nous, urgency and get up and go is pretty bare minimum to ask for.
Yes……is the equipment up to scratch…..are they filling by tap or by hand pumps?
Service in Fans Bar before the game and lower north bars at half time was shocking. But not a surprise either. Suspect it’s going to take a while for the commercial success of CAFC hospitality to recover from the likely awful state the current owners inherited.
Running out of Peroni is appalling. I do appreciate there’s an art to not ordering too many kegs of beer which could spoil if not used - but wouldn’t you have bottles as a fallback option? I mean it’s a hot day and football fans are a thirsty lot - hardly unexpected is it?
There were one or two staff who really got it and were working through their queues well. A lot of the other had no sense of urgency, but they may well not have a clue what to do either. What I didn’t understand was that there were some pre-poured pints at the back of the lower north at HT but no one seemed to be selecting them….
Left and right hand, etc.
Peroni in kegs will have six month shelf life, so unless the stock rotation is appalling it’s extremely unlikely to “spoil” the first game of the new season is always a challenge for the catering team, hopefully it improves for you as they get into the rhythm of the season.
That’s assuming that the staff are the same(or more or less) on an ongoing basis. Make sure that the same staff (or as near as possible), are working at the same outlet at every game…..surely that would help. I have a feeling that isn’t happening.
They clearly hire cheaply to protect the profit margins and then don't invest the time or money to train them correctly, and if by some miracle they do, any supervisor or head honcho (if there are any) in the bar areas should be picking out those that clearly have an attitude problem or no work ethic and binning them off. A solid backbone of well trained motivated team members on the payroll should be in each bar, leading by example and making sure standards are kept, and identifying the problem areas, be it staff, procedures or stock.
Big shout out to the ladies behind the bars in the away end at Bristol . From the kiosk I went to at half time they were definitely 3 old school that had poured a pint or two before, didn’t waste a minute and didn’t faff or flap. Everyone that wanted a drink got one, even if the lager did run out.
I’m still trying to work out how I went down there when the half time whistle was blown, queued up, got served, drank an ice cold beer that had been effortlessly and quickly poured from a tilted can, had a piss and was back standing in front of my seat for the second half kick off.
Sod getting more players, our next signings need to be that lot.

I was wondering what the catering was like so thanks for sharing.
It's such a simple exchange isn't it... Give money, get a drink, go. I don't know how we manage to SO massively eff that up at The Valley.

Punter: "Can I have a drink please"? Server: "Yes you can", goes and gets drink Punter: "Thanks" and gives payment Server: "You're welcome, next please" Rocket science it ain't

They also had a ‘Guinness’ bar near where the players came out after the game to get the coach and that was serving after the game. It was quite nice standing there in the sunshine, having a beer or two and watching the Charlton players come out, have selfies taken with the fans and chat to them. Only noticed one Bristol City player come out while we were there and that was Yu.
