Turns out also his best mate is someone I have known for years and worked with who put him up for the job, who incidentally I had just been talking too prior to us chatting.1 -

My sister and her husband were out on holiday from Cambridge. They got chatting to a lady in our building whose brother was an airman killed in WWII and buried in Cambridge, a short bike ride from my sister’s house. Our neighbour gathered a white pebble from a nearby beach which Mary duly placed on the grave of our neighbour’s brother.6

Spooky one for me. Last month I was sitting in my living room watching tv when I heard a thud from the kitchen. Upon investigation, I found a dead starling on the patio, it had obviously flown into my bifold doors and paid the ultimate price. About 20 minutes later my wife called me from Tenerife to say that my mother in law had passed away 15 minutes ago. A bit of a coincidence but it gets stranger! I flew out for the funeral which was held the day before the play off final, so watched that in a bar in Tenerife. I got home at around 3 am on the Tueday morning and at around 9 that evening I received a phone call from my sister to say that my younger brother had passed away while on holiday in Feurteventura!
So, sad coincidences sure, but it doesn't end there! The spooky bit is that when I awoke the following morning, I let the dogs out and found a dead starling on the patio. It had obviously hit the bifolds and dropped down dead!!
And no, it wasn't the same starling as I had already disposed of the previous one.0 -
Sorry for your loss, @church-lane9

Whilst on the train traveling to the home semi final against Wycombe and asked my son in law if he still speaks to his mate that got us Wembley tickets for the last play off final against Sunderland. He looked at me very confused having no recollection of this happening.
After an extensive search in his wattsapp archive he found the thread and said that was the last time he had spoken to the guy and not seen him since.
I said not to worry I am sure we will get some tickets if we get through and left it at that.
When we took our seats there was a couple of guys already sitting in the row so my son in law tapped him on the shoulder and said excuse me mate, the bloke turned around and he was the guy we were talking about.
27,000 seats to choose from and this coincidence happened15 -

On a cruise to Norway, sat down for our dinner yesterday diagonally opposite us was a couple who we were or a 71 night cruise in late ‘22 / early ‘23, they live in Auckland, then next day we see another couple who were also on that same cruise, who come from Canada. We are all meeting up for a meal on Tuesday. From memory there were only 73 people who were on that cruise for the 71 nights.5

Me and the family were out in Florida. I am sat by the pool reading a book, when half the pages just fall out.
I just put it down to the glue in the binder failing, although this has never happened to me before.
Get a text message 30 minutes later from my mum telling me my dad had passed away half hour ago.0 -
As an aside. Fair play to Virgin Atlantic, fully refunded return emergency flights.
Also Disneyland, had 4 days left on passes, took my mum with us the following year, gave us the four days and a free pass for my mother.
Think the kamikaze roller coaster was the wrong call on my part though.
Never did find her teeth.7 -
Watched a Youtube video from our playoff win vs. Leyton Orient.Early in the video, around 1:40, there I spot one of my mates in the row in front of the Youtuber.

About 10 years ago I bumped into my dad's best mate Tony, and his wife Jean in The Royal Oak, Betwsy Y Coed, Snowdonia. Funny enough on its own as I live in Surrey and Tony in Essex.
Today I was back in the Royal Oak, Betwsy Y Coed for the first time since, and within an hour we bumped into my daughter's best friend from school in Surrey.

Oh and as an added extra, my daughter's friend had already bumped into their Maths teacher earlier today.3

I heard Jamie Carragher's voice during the tv coverage of Liverpool last night at exactly the same time that I remembered that I find his voice extremely dull and irritating.11

My son just looked at me and said, 'That's Carragher'.

A mate of mine here in Auckland is originally from Scunthorpe. His dad still lives in Scunthorpe and goes to a gym where they have treadmills with screens on. You can then choose locations all around the world where you want to run (e.g. Central Park in New York). As his son lives in Auckland, he chose a park here in Auckland as it was listed as an option. He was amazed when he saw footage of his son and two grandkids appearing in the footage (I can't upload the video, so attaching a screenshot instead).

Apologies if this has been posted before but this is my favorite story of coincidence.
